How about "for future generations" -- period? Not so hard. Fewer letters, more noble. "Our children" is an inclusive locution in a way "for Americans" is not.
Your alternative is fine, too. But what's wrong with wishing the best for our fellow Americans? Do I have to love everyone as much as I love my family?
Dude,
What is up with you today? Would it be wrong to want to build a better world for your children? This is the same concept.
Maybe I should be glad I don't get to surf the Web much... something out there is really getting under your skin!

But you're right, I was not a happy surfer today.
