There isn't much reason at this point to think that's a possibility. But, let's assume it for the sake of argument. In that case, a woman who is not a CIA operative was falsely identified as one my administration officials. Probably not a criminal act, but unpleasant. Again though, I don't think that's a plausible scenario.

Uh, yes, they do reveal that Plame was a CIA operative. Novak says "Valerie Plame, is an agency operative on weapons of mass destruction."
Does anyone know what happens to this story if Plame turns out not to have been a CIA agent?

Novak says that Plame is an agency operative, but Novak does not say that administration officials told him that.
