Amen. It's funny how people use a couple of hundred years of the American experience and in particular the experience in a few setttings to engage in this discussion. The argument goes: "XYZ was justified in the WWII context, so why not now?" Short-sighted isn't quite the right description, more like limited in thinking. Particularly with technological developments, the expansion of the fed govt. etc. short shrifting the civil liberties discussion is a recipe for disaster.
