you know, for some reason this post evoked an image for me, it was the image of George Bush riding off to tilt at oil derricks while dressed as Don Quixote while alongside him playing Sancho Panza rides Glenn Reynolds, saddled on and whipping an old iraqi woman.
Ok, maybe the point is too subtle. I don't mean what's worse in an absolute moral sense and I explicitly said "in terms of America's image in the rest of the world." With that in mind, try re-reading the post and the previous one linked in it.

Because seeming "gross" is MUCH worse than gunning down hundreds of innocent unarmed civilians in No Gun Ri or My Lai.
You might want to give your moral compass a whack. It seems it needs adjusting.
