Re: Mo' Meta Please

But what if the short nails are a discrete symbol that she is a lesbian? Then you find yourself in the middle of a Weezer song, which is not always a good place to be.

When I'm checking out women, I seek out signs of carpal tunnel, because it would indicate that we have a lot of common interests.

Excellent. Laughed out loud at the carpal tunnel.

There's a lot of room to manuever on that lesbian border, and that's in fact where I seem to find my serious girlfriends.

I bet you could get a fair amount of mileage out of examining the differences between discrete and continuous symbols. (This is not a spelling flame, honest.)

Good thing, because spelling flamers will be banned.

Ogged, I think I was on the wrong side of the lesbian border during Christmas '68-- weren't you the one who gave me that hat?

horizontal rule
6

Perv, you were 50 yards away, and there is no hat.

A seminarian I know refers to a certain class of women as "has-biens." It was funny at the time, but now I'm not exactly sure why.

Ben: Yeah, what Ogged said -- I will not hesitate to ban you and Paul Krugman in one fell swoop.

You know, from the Weblog, because I don't yet have administrative authority on Unfogged. Only a matter of time, I'm sure.

My IPs are legion.

Can't a guy note an interesting misspelling and then act defensive without people making threats against him? Sheesh. 'Senough to make me think you're just looking for an excuse to put me down.

I just don't want to wait up to an ugly girl who was pretty before her face smudged off.

(did i take the first sentence too seriously?)

Really? You've got me curious now. While I hardly ever paint my nails (and they're pretty short - you ever tried typing with long nails?), I do wear lipstick and heels at work. Without knowing anything about you (I admit), why would you assume that a girl like me would have nothing in common with you? It's like a guy wearing a tie to work - it's expected to maintain a certain degree of professional look. Doesn't necessarily make you shallow or vain. I'm certainly no Paris Hilton.

I like a man with a manicure.

I get manicures all the time, but it's because I used to bite my nails, and now glory in the fact that I have something to work with.

Plus, I wear heels sometimes, but I don't think it's because I'm vain. I'm barely aware of my own appearance most of the time. I only notice that heels produce a certain effect.

I used to be more frumpy than I am now, and it made life kind of unpleasant. Being a little glamorous gives you confidence, and eases your path in life, and if you've known what it's like to be judged on your appearance, that's not so bad, is it?

(I say, realizing that I've been telling a bunch of stories about how anxious I was when I was younger.)

I see I'm not the only one working back through the archives.

Well, Ogged made a reference to his sex life, and I don't know the story there, beyond all the stuff about crushes on lesbians, so I plugged in "sex life" to the search engine and ended up here. Clearly, I still don't know the story. Will search again another day.
