So much for any notions that this was going to have a positive effect on our frat room atmosphere. Well, apparantly it will, just not in the way intended. I'm already liking the BwO.
Michael, no; I am hardly the posterchild for "girl bloggers don't talk about sex." I just sort of wondered if the presence of a woman on the masthead would make any difference in how the guys talked about women, whether a nascent feminist sensibility might rear its ugly head...
Didja know Katherine Jean Lopez is fat? Really, there's no shortage of feminist sensibility here, just a willingness to go for the easy joke. That willingness is hardly retsricted to matters of gender.
"Husband X," dunno. Can I say that one of my posts has gone on at Husband-Xian length? Not snappy. I propose that for the purposes of Unfogged the members of Alameida's immediate family be dubbed Algy, Mildred, and Edith.
Jeez. mattweiner.com wasn't taken when I first registered my domain.
I thought that the farkage of my own domain was 80% my fault, but it is actually 100% my fault. Should be back up as soon as my host processes my credit card number (for $5.88, sheesh).
The "Seven of Nine" crack reminds of ex-before-last's mother, to whom ex's sister's boyfried was "Drear" (it's a play on his name), ex herself was "Early Christian Martyr," and some notable quadrapalegic woman became "Suzy Q." I totally should have married into that family.
Unless I've badly misunderstood who the new "mystery blogger" is, I have to say I'm impressed. I would have thought that Alameida was well out of this blog's league (and I love this blog).
I'm guessing that there are incriminating pictures involved.
I should take that in the spirit of complimenting Alameida in which I'd like to think it's intended, but, knowing you a little bit, so-called Tim, I'll say, hey bucko, what is that supposed to mean!?
I for one think that she is out of our league, but that's sort of the point, since anonymity is part of our charm. We're the Swiss bank account of the blog world.
I should take that in the spirit of complimenting Alameida in which I'd like to think it's intended...I'll say, hey bucko, what is that supposed to mean.
At first I was inclined to think this was an example of a new ogged neurosis, sitting chock-a-block with the "I will only date women that do not exist" posts; of course I meant my comment as a quick appreciation of the new member (surely that's the wrong word for a BwO), and not as a slight of the membered members of this blog.
But, after thinking about it, I think I'm right. The greatness of Unfogged is the way in which y'all have managed drive this blog on something close to pure anarchic whimsy. It's all cock joke, cock joke, insightful comment, cock joke, insightful comment. That trait is fairly rare in guys, but seems much rarer in the women bloggers to whom I've been exposed. If I'm right about she-who-cannot-be named (Weiner's reference to Husband's length means it's Rollergirl, fictive girlfriend of Dirk Diggler, right?), the new BwO has the characteristic in spades; the only other woman blogger I'm aware of with this characteristic is Majikthise, when she feels like it. So BwO is more valuable than the men of Unfogged, not because she is a better poster than the others, but because, by virtue of the O, she is a rarer find.
Hmm... maybe it's the diary thing, and I'm not that familiar with a lot of their blogging, but I still say it's pretty rare in women. BPhD is too structured, strangely. Proffgrrrl - don't read her site b/c I don't want want to get any spoiler information as I watch the PG/FL/Ogged storyline develop here. Havrilesky - no comments, so it's hard to get a sense of controlled pandemonium at her site. C-bizzkit ruined it with the pictures of herself; she's too attractive - it throws my judge-o-meter all atwitter. SnarkAttack - yeah, I'd throw her in group with BwO and Majikthese.
So much for any notions that this was going to have a positive effect on our frat room atmosphere. Well, apparantly it will, just not in the way intended. I'm already liking the BwO.
Let the bukkake-blogging begin!
Will this be liveblogging?

You number them like Super Bowls?

rear its ugly head
Oh, you mean THAT kind of feminism. ;)
Posted by apostropher | Link to this comment | 02-14-05 6:17 AM
Yeah, I meant the kind of feminism that gets bored with "ugly chick" jokes after a while.

You're already my favorite Unfogged contributor!

The problem is that she's already my favorite contributor. Ogged, we're going to have to start a drug ring or something.

Can you say that one of your posts has gone on at Algernonian lengthy? Algic length? Allergic length?
Posted by ben wolfson | Link to this comment | 02-14-05 8:14 AM
Algyan length. Mildred is the one who posts, BTW.
Posted by Matt Weiner | Link to this comment | 02-14-05 8:55 AM
Doesn't matter anyway as the result of trying to access mattweiner.net is ERROR 400 BAD REQUEST.

Yeah, but if you try mattweiner.com, you get a picture, too! You look very happy there, Matt.

Dude, you are so made. And it's your first post! How do you pull off the triple-blogging? I can barely handle one.

I was wondering the same thing. If I did, I never heard it.

Bukkake blogging?!?! Mentioned in the BwO's first post?
Will this be photoblogging?
Jeebus, I thought I was above lines like that. Y'all are a corrupting influence!

Hey, what about bitch? Profgrrrl? Havrilesky, when she posts? C-bizzkit? SnarkAttack?
I admit that most of the above tend to diary-blog, which maybe you don't like. But still....
