B, I would say something about the wages of niceness, except I myself acknowledge that what I was doing was passive-aggression. (In which spirit; my blog is back up and has a comment section.) Though, for those who didn't read that whole thread, this comment made everything worthwhile.
Rereading that, it's kind of a jerky way to respond to lots of people being nice to me. OK, I got some bad career-related news this morning. I demand a pity party.
Hey, Satoko Fujii! Way to go! Have you heard her duo album with Tatsuya Yoshida? (Apparently they played either Victoriaville or ... some prog festival? I can't remember. Anyway, they played this festival and Yoshida did a solo on his jacket zipper.)
B-wo--no, but I do have a quartet album with Yoshida, Tamura, and an electric bassist who may or may not be the other Ruin (wasn't last I checked, but I don't know how often Tatsu changes them up).
I should try to deflect some of the sympathy: The news wasn't so much a bad thing happening but a good thing failing to happen. Though if enough good things fail to happen that will be a bad thing. You fellow academics know what I'm talking about (leastways, if you've looked at my non-blog homepage).
The album is Libra, which I think is not the one you're thinking of. (A lot of the titles have to do with weaving.) The Fujii albums I have all sound very different from each other, with the exception of one pair. "Toward, To West" with Mark Dresser and Jim Black is particularly good.
Ah, that's an interesting question. Does b consider 1:20 am on Feb. 15 to be part of Feb. 14 or of Feb. 15? I say Feb. 14, except when you're in the middle of some activity that completely destroys sleep habits (like giving birth or being born or maybe flying across an ocean).
I guess I shouldn't even pretend for a second that b's post is about me.
Gee, sorry for missing your birthday, Matt. I hadn't yet read Unfogged when I ran you over in the hall yesterday. (The 15th of February had a rather different significance to me this year -- for which see the list of names under 'up for review' on the announcement above the water fountain.)
Thanks, dogg.

On the bright side, you two can go into business together.

If I can find out his name.... (It's not "will be out on the street next year"-level news.)

Oh, bad career-related news, sorry about that. Sucks. And on your birthday, too.
Go out and get drunk tonight.

I may have the same album--does it have a track called "The Sun in Moonlit Night"? That's a good album.

And wouldja look at the article that ran in the New York Times on your birthday:
When It's Good to Be a Weiner

Hey, I just noticed this.

Read second sentence of bitch's post. Read date of bitch's post. Reread this post.
(Plus I do think bitch's post is sweet.)

[Wolfson] But his birthday is a day before yours. And, even if you shared a birthday, that wouldn't be surprising. [/Wolfson]

Sorry I haven't been on hand with the pedantry recently--I'm stuck in a conference room doing document reviews for some reason.

Ted passed. At least, I think I would've noticed if he didn't.
