It's also worth noting the "Barbara Boxer, Lynne Stewart, and Howard Dean" thing--kinda like Chaucer's "a thief, a summoner, and a pimp" in reverse. I wouldn't be surprised if this assclown later tries to claim that he's 2/3 right. (I also wouldn't be surprised if there's no backing away from the claim. Did Hastert ever back away from his repeated insinuations that Soros got drug money?)
My recollection is that he tried to 'clarify' in some totally implausible way. What's weirdest about this is that, as O'Toole emphasizes, Minarik is in New York.
Hastert also intimated that there was something troubling in the fact that Soros was a European Jew who survived the Holocaust. ("[Soros] is a self-admitted atheist; he was a Jew who figured out a way to survive the Holocaust.")
I puzzled by that one. As if, you know, Jews surviving the Holocaust was a bad thing. I guess there's a "he collaborated!" in the background, but it's just such a weird thing to say.
Checking O'Toole's update, elected officials in NY are running away from Minarik, but Minarik doesn't seem to be walking it back himself. May this drag down Bloomberg and leave a vacuum for Weiner! (Thanks 'r.)
This is going to get me banned, but the first reaction I had to #11 was "He's making fun of me because I didn't permalink the article. But the permalink doesn't work!"

Labs, I am so deeply committed to the idea that being a Republican means never having to say you're sorry that I will make you the following bet:
If Minarik doesn't back away from the claim by June, I get your current job.
If he does, you get my current job.

Damn, but you play hardball, Matt.

Er, have you checked out my current job title?

Yeah, I figured that out, and it is February, after all. By 'play hardball' I meant 'offered me a lose/lose deal.'

Well, sure.
