and brought in three guest bloggers (with six--count 'em!--six ovaries). WTF?
WTF.

That would 1. still be no females here, and 2. no female attracted at this whole hole, this stinkin' ...'gaypit'. Bend over for Bruce....he' got your soap lad....
Ben, he's a "football player and wrestler," that's how they dress. And, like you, he's young, so there's still a chance that if his chest gets some air, a little hair will grow on it.
I don't think we do, which high school did you (Ben) go to?
As for chest hair, trust me Ogged, I fear the day. A day which, much to my chagrin (and my hair-loving girlfriend's delight) is rapidly approaching. Soon I'll be able to style the damn stuff...
I went to Uni, of course. But if you were 20 in March of 2004, I doubt we would have encountered each other even if you also went there (unless you took Latin).
If your first year corresponded to my third, and you were in JCL, then I was co-treasurer with Shankar Mukherji that year (in fact that's the case whether or not you were in JCL).
I'm pretty sure that wasn't the first mention of the Mineshaft, ogged; plus I think google's index of this site is sorely out of date. (For example, it doesn't think "mineshaft" has ever occured here.) The MT search also turns up no results. What the shit?
I stand corrected, even if Labs' link isn't the very first instance. Google's index of the site isn't just behind a few days, it's very spotty. And comments aren't included in the MT search. I'm open to suggestions for a comprehensive search tool.
Ha, that's as good as this one. If you click through to my link, you'll see that my reference to mineshafts was completely innocent, except in the freudian-revealing way that's also found in the original movie, as this fucking nutbar explains.
Someone should tell Ezra to button his damn shirt.

"WTF?" seems to be used properly. The rest...is art.

You're the man Ogged. In a variety of positive, heterosexual ways.
And why does Ben have to be a hater?
Posted by Ezra Klein | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 6:02 PM
Well, that's Ben's job actually; we wouldn't have it any other way.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 6:15 PM
There's no hate in my soul. I just think, maybe buttoning another button, it could be a good idea. That's all.

Ezra's from Irvine? I'm from Irvine!
Posted by ben wolfson | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 7:02 PM
Ok, then. Time for the nice Jewish boys from Irvine to be friends. Do you two know each other, maybe?

Nothing to be afraid of; loosen another button on that shirt, manly sir. My chest hair, on the other hand, is now going gray. I am not that old.

Not only did I go to Uni, but I took Latin (though only my freshman year). Davis is a great, great man.

Uh, do I sense a meetup at the Mineshaft?
Posted by SomeCallMeTim | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 8:00 PM
Sounds like they've been there, done that.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 8:03 PM
Well, with Ezra's haircut, he'd almost have to have been there.
Posted by SomeCallMeTim | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 8:06 PM
I can't tell anymore if we're making sure Ezra never comes back, or welcoming him to the community.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 8:08 PM
I was going for welcoming. I thought "Mineshaft" was now understood to mean general approbation (as AOTW mean "as of this writing").

re: Ezra's shirt. I concur. It just looks... weird.

Excuse my, er, fogginess, but what's The Mineshaft?
Posted by Ezra Klein | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 9:30 PM
We should probably do a post about the Mineshaft. First mentioned here; explanation here.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 9:35 PM
I wonder if Fontana means the one in L.A. Their website is down, but the Administrative Contact for the domain is "Rusty Stickler."

Ogged, I refer you to what I believe is the first occurrence of "Mineshaft" here.
Eventually, that thread will be long enough to contain all possible comments. A certain infinite library comes to mind: Ball me, Ishmael!

This is odd. Yahoo's top hit if you search for mineshaft and unfogged is a server log for my site.
Posted by apostropher | Link to this comment | 03- 3-05 10:24 PM
Unfogged + Mineshaft = coming for the apostropher.

Heh. Irony: mine shows up due to a link in to me from Pharyngula, in a post titled "Of course, I'll be in a mineshaft with many nubile, fertile young women."
