Embarrassing. I hope, when they inevitably ask Van Gundy what he thought of the reffing, he gives them a shit-eating grin and says, "NBA reffing. It's fantastic!" And maybe adds a thumbs up sign.
Tracy McGrady is the best basketball player in the world.
It's not as if Dallas hasn't seen their share of shitty calls in the series. Watching Mutumbo set up a screen reminds me of one of those spy cartoons, in which the spy dresses us up as bush or some other non-mobile object and then scurries whenever the other cartoon isn't looking.
Kriston, why do hate America? Stack comes from out of the concession stand for a steal, and there's a potential four point differential. (But yeah, in general, NBA refs suck these days).
Ogged, I'm amazed by Kobe, but after this, it's pretty clear that Tmac's better. At a minimum, he's longer and he looks quicker. To say otherwise is to mock Gawd. The only place Kobe outshines him is in attractiveness, and that's only because Tracy's face looks like the end result of some sort of fetal drug syndrome.
I'm not the one rooting for the Vanguard Workers' team. And Dirk! He's a power forward who can play center but plays like a point guard. That's German efficiency.
SCMTim, I grant you that Finley was coming in from out of bounds when he initiated that play. Sure, it was a bad few minutes of officiating. I'm just saying that Mark Cuban was putting it lightly when he said what he did about the calls on Yao. Van Gundy's screens look like they're on conveyer belts.
There were more minutes than the last two, right? How many free throws did Houston blow?
I will admit that I like Nowitski's German-accented Texas twang.
I once met a German girl in Germany with a Texas twang in her English. After living in the states she came back pretending that she was American and would tease her family about their English abilities. (I was friends with her sister and they had a huge family - something like 9 children - only some of whom knew English.)
The funny thing is that her family had no idea her English was accented; when I pointed it out, they began to tease her back.
On topic: have you ever heard the younger commentaters say "blow" for "rest"? It seems like it's usually/always the older ones (especially in college basketball).
It disturbs me how often you equate friendliness with whoring.
Odd. I was trying to say precisely the reverse to you. (Please keep in mind that I am resigning myself to never feeling the touch of a woman again; these are turbulent times).
Really, this is the required picture. Gloomy-eyed, floppy-haired, over-praised intellectual of whom it can be reasonably said that "there is no proof that he [is] not slightly homosexual," and yet, still, there is something quite compelling there.
(I am now amazed at the industry of people who regularly include links in their comments.)
That reminds me that I wanted to ask you a language question: what are the differences between "hate" and "loathe", and which would be more appropriate for me to use when referencing you? Sadly, I actually used cut and paste and it still took me forever. I just wish someone had invented a FF extension that allowed me to drag-n-drop references into a box and associate them with specific words for later use. Why o' why won't the world provide everything I want for free?
Usage: Hate is the generic word, and implies that one is inflamed with extreme dislike. We abhor what is deeply repugnant to our sensibilities or feelings. We detest what contradicts so utterly our principles and moral sentiments that we feel bound to lift up our voice against it. What we abominate does equal violence to our moral and religious sentiments. What we loathe is offensive to our own nature, and excites unmingled disgust. Our Savior is said to have hated the deeds of the Nicolaitanes; his language shows that he loathed the lukewarmness of the Laodiceans; he detested the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees; he abhorred the suggestions of the tempter in the wilderness. [1913 Webster]
"loathe" is best used for things you formerly cared for strongly, but which have undergone a reversal of polarity, if you will—it and "love" are derived from the same Old English word, "lofian".
So "hate" it is. Thanks. (And how great is it that a blog exists where asking for and getting this sort of information is normal? (See, ogged, friendliness does come off as whoring.))

Toss up between Kobe/McGrady, I'd say--any given night...

Well, a moving screen, sure, but those were horrible missed calls in crunch time, Mr. Apologist.

He's longer, don't know about quicker. I think Kobe's stronger. Still think it's a toss-up.
Why does Kriston hate America? Who the hell roots for the German?

Admit it ogged. You're just whoring yourself for Kriston because he might have the only blog that's more attractive than yours. Shameless.

I think he's still telling Jerome to send it down. Or saying something with a kiss.
But doesn't Billy Packer say it too, or am I just assuming he does?
