My list was mostly a "you can't fault a guy for pursuing" list. My personal list was a little more restrictive.
What is interesting to me is when I suggest young male A might be introduced to young female B my female acquantances always say "But B has a boyfriend."
I then ask the acquantance if they had a boyfriend when they first met or romantically considered their husband.
The answer is always "yes." The truth is females always have boyfriends (okay, 90% of the time).
I'd like to thank my Catholic cousin David who told me that joke the summer of '69. It has been thirty-six years but I knew it would come in handy some day.

In matters of the heart, the protocol is as follows:
Hands off in the case of:
1. Marriage
2. Engagement
3. Friend actively dating
Otherwise proceed. Sorry, but you can't blame your friend.

Hands off in the case of:
Those go without saying (or should), as they almost never end well. My protocol is rather more specific, but whatever works for you.

Hey, in that linked thread, the prequel to the earnest conversation of yesterday!

So o-earnest can stand for both "Ogged-earnest" and "Overly earnest," and the definitions are nearly indistinguishable.

I now regret suggesting "o-earnest". I should have suggested "earnest-o".

Or oarnest.

"oarnest" sounds like a cross between "earnest" and "ornery", like a crotchety old Jimmy Stewart.

Oarnest Bergnine.

I'm talking about the 18-25 age group here.

Ah, that makes sense. I'd add nuns.

apostropher,
Oh, and if you'd just come home and repent all will be good and I would kill the fatted calf for you. Jesus would simply have to get over it.
All my love,
Dad

It's okay to pursue Nuns. Just don't get into the habit.

An interesting fact--some religious women I know don't think "friend actively dating" is a hands-off.
