Re: Question

1

I do! Or at least I found her charming in Jerry Maguire, which, much to my shame, I liked a lot, and also in Bridget Jones. Something awful appears to have happened to her, though.

horizontal rule
2

Liked her in Chicago.

horizontal rule
3

Hmm. This is where it occurs to me that I've never seen her in a movie.

horizontal rule
4

They really will let anyone have a blog nowadays.

Country singer Kenny Chesney, 37, does!!

After a whirlwind four-month courtship, Zellweger and Chesney exchanged vows May 9 on the Caribbean island of St. John, where Chesney has a holiday home.

The couple met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief benefit Jan. 15, celeb news show "The Insider" reports.

Zellweger wore a wedding dress by her favorite designer Carolina Herrera.

It's the first marriage for both stars.

horizontal rule
6

I need to know if Chesney married for love.

horizontal rule
7

I do, but as I recall, my girlfriend at the time was accusing me of having an erectile dyfunction problem,so I discounted that particular crush. Am I speaking your language, ogged?

horizontal rule
8

Indeed, I remember like it was yesterday your girlfriend accusing you of having an erectile dysfunction problem.

horizontal rule
9

Dare we ask what inspired this seemingly-random question? And what is your experience with her if not in movies?

horizontal rule
10

What? She didn't have you at hello?

horizontal rule
11

No.

horizontal rule
12

At hello he thought she was sweet, and unobjectionably earnest, and he wanted to hear more about her work, but it wasn't like he wanted to date her, so he e-mailed and she never replied, and hence this post.

horizontal rule
13

I liked her in something I saw her in, but I can't remember what that was.

horizontal rule
14

Sheila O'Malley had a great rant about her.

horizontal rule
15

I liked her in Nurse Betty. She should stick to playing simpleminded delusional Middle Americans being pursued by mismatched teams of assassins. Or she should be one of those in real life!!!!

horizontal rule
16

There you go, Sheila hears me, but apparently she does have fans, right here among the most treacherous commenters in blogdom.

horizontal rule
17

I'm with you, ogged. she was pretty good in nurse betty, but something about her creeps me out, and I am beyond bored with her weight loss/gain brouhaha. but I love the beach boys.

horizontal rule
18

Cocking her head sideways and doing that old-lady smirk thing is tedious, especially since Paris picked up on ot.

horizontal rule
19

I like her in the movies, but apparently I'm a bit of an outlier in these parts.

horizontal rule
20

Liked her in Jerry Maguire and Price Above Rubies, but not in anything else.

horizontal rule
21

She needs to stop eating lemons before every scene.

horizontal rule
22

i do i do!

horizontal rule
23

Renee's success baffles me less than that of Keanu Reeves.

Hmmm, "Renee's" and "Reeves" differ only slightly. Coincidence?

horizontal rule
24

I think it's kind of cool that she has such a long univocalic name.

horizontal rule
25

I think it's kind of cool that she has such a long univocalic name.

Pure geek poetry right there, Weiner.

Also, I, like others, liked Renee (or "the Z-Dawg" as we like to say in these parts) in Jerry Maguire, mainly because she seemed hot. I say "seemed" because I have yet to come across an image of her outside that particular movie which could be construed as confirming that impression. Plus, the whole Bridget Jones monstrosity makes it hard to even appreciate her as an actress, hotness or non-hotness aside.

horizontal rule
26

"Does anybody like Renée Zellweger?"

I've never met her, myself.

horizontal rule
27

I think it's kind of cool that she has such a long univocalic name.

Maybe you should change your name to Metthew Weener? (Such an inspired move would also put to bed that whole "rhymes with meaner or miner?" question)

horizontal rule
28

A name can be too univocalic, you know. Which is why I no longer go by

Stonedpope Broachploat.

horizontal rule
29

Is "univocalic" really the appropriate term? Univowellic maybe?

And SB, didn't you used to also go by Steamedpeep Breachpleat, or was the your wastrel of a brother?

horizontal rule
30

We do not speak of Steamedpeep, the black sheep Breachpleat.

horizontal rule
31

And whatever happened to ol' Stainedpate Breakplate?

horizontal rule
32

If I recall, since he was tall and awkward and shod himself in clogs, he'd often totter and bonk his noggin on the rotten logs of his lodge. Then that old fraud would flop on his cot and slobber with snot and mawkish sobs.

He was a real pain in the assonance, wasn't he.

horizontal rule
33

Actually, I think you have Stainedpate mixed up with Staunchpop Broadplop.

I was going to bring up Stunnedpup Budgepus, but then I thought better of it.

horizontal rule
34

Still very sure I've never met her, and pretty much don't know what she's like, and thus have no opinion about her likeability. Also: there's something called "acting" those folks do, which possibly might interfere with judgement as to knowing the real person via the performance. Probably a crazy idea, though, that. (And damn glad I'm not an actor, receiving personal judgements from people who don't know me, although, oddly, as a blogger....)

horizontal rule
35

Y'know, if it was Stainedpip Bridgeplate, that would be a chiastic handle.

horizontal rule
36

And if it were "Stand, Pipe, Bridge, Plate", it would be polysyndetic.

horizontal rule
37

Or maybe I mean asyndetic.

horizontal rule
38

asyndetic

Yes, I suppose the polysyndetic version would be Stand and Pipe and Bridge and Plate. Pleasantly rhythmic, but a mouthful.

horizontal rule
39

Are you going to Scarborough Fair / Stand and pipe and bridge and plate

These versions have a much more pagan feel than does the Simon & Garfunkel rendition.

horizontal rule
40

Too bad about the melismatic "bridge".
