I had the lame SNES version where they turned the blood into gray "sweat" that mysteriously resulted from being wounded. A tragic turn of events in a young man's life.
God I hated Reptile. "Get over here!" He and Sub-Zero both had that horrible quality: their moves gave you time to realize that you were about to be walloped.

I never played much mortal kombat (I was terrible at the fireball motion), but I always liked the "GEDDOVERHERE". But that's probably just because I assume anything that inspires dread has artistic value. Also because, as I mentioned, I usually wasn't the one playing.
Also, the thread which spawned the Raiden reference (and which got us to this point), was excellent. I'm sorry that work caused me to miss it. Tom's "per-capita malevolence" comment, is, I think, the definitive statement on Scientology.
Did anyone else call the real cheap characters "jews"? It's like we were racists, but without any real malignancy behind it, or any real understanding, for that matter. "Dude! You are so JEWING me!" Yeah, that was wrong. I suppose you can tell there weren't any Jews around my 'hood (other than my own far-back jewish ancestry).
But I thought Reptile was just a lame amalgamation of Subzero and Scorpion's powers (including the harpoon)? Plus the ability to spit fireballs, for some reason.
Labs is a big proponent of the picture posting.

You know what's really creepy. I was the body model for Sub-Zero. Though, obviously, not Scorpion.

I always liked the enemy with four arms, but only one set of pectoral muscles.

Goro's dog.

That's funny that the Temple named the two-penised dog Lucky One.

No wonder Republicans think we're soft.

Between the two cheap characters, Scorpion was the more badass.

Remember the holy-shit moment when you first came upon Reptile?

Kano wins! Best finishing move, although sub-zero was easier to beat the game with. I never fought reptile...

You beat the game in the arcade, baa?
Posted by FL | Link to this comment | 06-20-05 9:32 PM
Yeah. Goro, as I recall, was the big barrier.

Beating the game was easiest with Raiden, the true cheap character.

You're thinking of Scorpion. Yellow, throws a spear at you. Reptile was the green one (secret character, he lived at the bottom of the Pit).

You're right.

No, Reptile could spit acid and become invisible for 4 or 5 seconds. You had to do something awesome to make him appear, but I can't remember what.
