Turning into someone's driveway is actually a very useful power in chases. They're coming after you--and then all they see is an extra driveway! Where'd he go?
Having only twiddled with any of the GTA series (including the prequel based on the Italian job, old version), I have to ask: do they really have some homeboy walking down the street with an RPG in San Andreas or did they fake that up for the commercial?
I'm appalled that you didn't ban SCMT from the site for his egregiously insensitive use of the sexist term "MRS degree", ogged. Sure, you reprimanded him, but we all know that that kind of nod-and-a-wink wrist-slapping in the face of truly hurtful language is just one more way that the patriarchy maintains its hegemony.
What's wrong with the last line? It doesn't work if you pronounce "hegemony" correctly, but of course in these situations one lets pronunciation be subordinate to rhythm. HEgeMOny.
I always assumed that was part of little dress-up games. ogged is the mommy, Matt is the baby, somebody has a boom-boom, and then even my mind doesn't want to take it any farther.
Didn't we used to call that 'praeteritio'? I can't find the original Alameida post so I may be spelling it wrong. Or maybe I should've kept away from the blue acid.
Praeterititor? On the supposition that the "eo" at the end is a basic verb (eo, ire, ivi/ii, itum) in front of which a bunch of stuff has been crammed.
Ash, the RPG really is in the game, and you can walk down the street with it should you choose to do so. (You can't run with it, though, and it's tricky to aim.)

Not when you're chasing, though...

I am obviously not in tune with the Grand Theft Auto world. I'll just link to this, then.

For some reason I can't get this video to play in firefox (it works in IE), but it should be shown in all driver's ed classes.

I didn't take you for a gamer, Labs.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:01 PM
Dang, now Ogged doesn't read the site. He's going the way of Unf.
Posted by Matt Weiner | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:05 PM
No, I remember that, I just chose to comment on it here. Is that ok, Matt?
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:06 PM
ogged cranky. Someone poke him again.
Posted by SomeCallMeTim | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:09 PM
*poke*
Posted by Matt Weiner | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:11 PM
Cut it OUT, motherfucker!
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:13 PM
Did the Tivo just reset? That seems anticlimactic.
Posted by Chopper | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:13 PM
How was that?
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:13 PM
Uh, kidding at 11, if that wasn't clear. And 13 was supposed to be the follow-up.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:14 PM
And 12 was supposed to be after 10.

(How was that, poke-wise?)
Posted by LizardBreath | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:15 PM
I think I just put my peanut butter in your chocolate, ogged. NOW the Tivo has been reset, albeit accidentally.
Posted by Chopper | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:15 PM
Damn. Typing too slow again.
Posted by LizardBreath | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:15 PM
For PG:
My hedgie lies over the ocean
My hegdie lies over the sea
My hedgie lies over the ocean
Oh bring back my hegemony.
(14: Clear, no worries; 12: I'm ignoring you; in general: was 'poke' in 9 indicative?)
Posted by Matt Weiner | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:17 PM
Chopper, I have no idea of what you're talking about in 17, but I will never be able to enjoy s'mores ever again. Thanks.

We rename the animal Hegemonical Trevor.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:19 PM
You put peanut butter on your s'mores? What are you, a commie?
Posted by ben wolfson | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:20 PM
That's awesome, Matt.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:20 PM

No, 24 is praise. Really.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:24 PM
Matt: You're ignoring me? Why? Just because I implied that you let ogged ride your baloney pony?
SB: Not s'mores. Old Reese's Peanut Butter Cups commercial.

28: But Ogged isn't my mother!
Posted by Matt Weiner | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:28 PM
Yes, I know, but whenever I do that, DE gets on my case. So I was hoping to foster some writers-of-verse-that-annoys-DE cameraderie going.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:28 PM
I used wrote too many verbs.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:29 PM
Er, it would be counterproductive to say "'camaraderie'," wouldn't it? So I won't.

Matt, you sly paralipsist, you.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:32 PM
Well, in the comment that you linked to in 27, "Wolfson" sure is a funny way to spell "DE".
Posted by ben wolfson | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:32 PM
"Paralepsist", Bridge.
Posted by ben wolfson | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:33 PM
I used a canonical element instead of quotienting by an equivalence class.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:34 PM
Google sez:
paralepsis, 720 hits
paralipsis, 973 hits
Let's call it an acceptable variation.
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:36 PM
Very gentlemanly of you, SB.
Posted by ben wolfson | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:37 PM
Even better, wikipedia includes "paraleipsis" as an alternate.

I wanted to use the agent form of praeteriteo, but I hadn't the slightest idea what it was. "Praeteriteodor"?
Posted by Standpipe Bridgeplate | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:42 PM
Dude, I'm not even going to mention the picture below that post.
Posted by ogged | Link to this comment | 06- 6-05 1:45 PM
