I have a secret fondness for "Since U Been Gone". Every time i admit this, it turns out I am not alone. Come forward proudly, fellow hipsters! It is not shameful.
"Since U Been Gone" was written by the guy who's responsible for "Hit Me Baby One More Time", "Oops I Did It Again" and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)". We should all be very glad he's engineering pop songs instead of designer drugs.
There are worse things of which to be unaware. I could see an AC/DC and Twin Cinema cocktail monopolizing my time pretty effectively.
I find both her and that song surprisingly likable. That song of hers on the "Princess Diaries 2" soundtrack was also, briefly, a guilty pleasure of mine. Something about airplanes and melodrama, I think.
DeLong's defense makes more sense when I look at it on the webpage. The rss doesn't have any style markers so I couldn't see where his voice took over from the Chron.
It's an acoustic version, captured from a video performance done for AOL. Not great sound quality, unfortunately, but I'm sure a little searching will turn it up. He also wrote a Feb 1 news/blog post praising the song prior to recording the cover (no permalink, sorry).
I downloaded an mp3 via Bittorrent that had decent sound quality. They're out there, I think, but perhaps tough to find at this point. It's worth looking, as the song is actually a "Since U Been Gone"/"Maps" semi-medley.
It's the first time i ran through your site and I found it very informative and interesting. Nicely done! Am I too hip, or too cluelessly unaware, when I admit I haven't heard the song?

After Ted Leo covered it, I think you're probably trending toward the "cluelessly unaware" end of the spectrum.

I would recognize only one song off of her album; I assume it's the one referenced in #1. And yeah, I love it.

Fair enough. All I've been listening to lately is old Soundgarden and AC/DC, along with the new New Pornographers album.

Was that an impassioned defense? I didn't know what the hell his point was when I read that post.
I'm off to Rhapsody to listen to the song.

What is more, I like "Ms. Independent," also.

coolness. searching shall begin as soon as the boss dips out early, as per usual.

I'm really curious about the work environment where searching for music bootlegs isn't OK, but commenting on Unfogged is...

The difference is probably that commenting can be done silently.

heh. yes. neither is especially condoned, but the commenting can be done in a sneaky sneaky manner.

Sounds like Ghostzilla might be helpful, if you're not using it already.

"Since U Been Gone" was quite good. And Clarkson's cover of "Why?" was even better. The woman can sing.
And she is only twenty-two.

I like that kelly clarkson song.
I also like "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)". There is some skating video that uses that song to humorous effect.
I do not like the brian jonestown massacre. I saw them last night and they put on one of the worst shows I ever saw. The high dials were good though.

Last week I saw a show which included, inter alia, Blondie.

I do not trust the musical judgement of a man who has 62 books but only three CDs on his Amazon wish list.
