The bones first episode had too bones many gratuitous references bones to the bones woman's nickname, "Bones", bones which is a stupid nickname anyway.
Not a whole lot of happiness making the rounds lately. I am taking the afternoon off, but I'll probably be shopping for a new furnace, in anticipation of the upcoming rise in NG prices.
I'm happy to be taking the afternoon off to go see what I think will be a good movie (A History of Violence), but I doubt that the movie itself will be happy-making.
I don't know if it's happy news per se, but it looks like beautiful Asian women can be farm-raised and hatched now. And they have no trouble parallel parking.
The movie is good. Like more recent movies than I care to recount, its main theme seems to be the nature and persistence of identity. Really well directed (interesting imagey, etc.), and Mortensen's acting is also good.

I'd been trying to get some feedback on how big a deal it is that I hadn't seen any episodes of Firefly before seeing Serenity, but then this week I caught three or four of them on Sci-Fi, which makes me think that the movie won't really ruin anything for me. Thoughts?
I saw Serenity on Wednesday (thanks to the fabulous Josh Marshall) and thought it was fun. I haven't watched any Firefly episodes and was able to understand everything. So, while I can't vouch for whether Serenity will ruin Firefly, I can say that Serenity can be enjoyed without any knowledge of it.
The preview suuuucked. I never would have gone to it if I didn't have a fanatical Firefly friend. Here's the deal, though: almost everything in the preview is from the first 5-10 minutes of the film. It gives away practically nothing. Joss Whedon apparently traded a get-butts-in-the-seats preview for not spoiling the movie for the fans. I really respect that.
Really? I've been to less than a handful of movies in the last 6mo, and I've seen trailers for it. Until last week, though, I had forgotten about it. I didn't know about Firefly until this week, I think.
The movie is decent; it's a solid action flick, but not brilliant. The series is much stronger.
I would recommend watching the series first, only because while the movie set things up about as well as could be expected, I can't imagine anyone being terribly worked up about what happens to River!!!111!!! without having watched the series.
Maybe you'll get some inspiration from Happy News.

Or you could just embrace the grumpiness. Go on, rip Orin Kerr a new one.

My friend Eric Millegan is on that show Bones, as the young bestectacled assistant forensic dude. Show's terrible, though.

Is anyone else's browser only loading up random pieces of the Unfogged homepage, instead of the whole thing? Just me? Ok.

Nope, it's me too. (That is, I'll get everything but the text of the posts sometimes.)

There's a lot of blogo buzz about Serenity, but from the previews, I would think it would be awful. Worse than Chronicles of Riddick.
