I think he's gay, but not "officially" out. The folks who told me were Cincinatti Reds fans of 40 years standing, one of whom happens to be gay, for what it's worth.
Mine here, some 20 postings or so ago (I'm posting again, if anyone cares).
I dunno anything about Nichelle Nichol's sexuality, other than that she was one of six million actresses appearing on the show who allegedly slept with Roddenberry, who really was not a very nice man at all in many ways.
On the other hand, Uhuru's role was substantive for the time. Sulu was not, as noted, ah-so'ing his way around at all. Chekov's presence on the bridge was a sign that the Cold War was not destined to last for all of eternity, as one might have thought during the mid-1960s. And so on...
Surprise of very few? What? Is he that much in the public eye?

I guess my dream of George Takei/Cheryl Swoopes superbabies will never be realized.
Dammit. Now I owe Ogged five bucks.

I'll be damned. Somebody just told me that Johnny Bench is gay, too. They're everywhere!

Not only that, they have an agenda, I'm told.

...what it would have meant to people who were used to being dumped on.
...at the Mineshaft, you mean?
I mean, I'm pretty new around here, but even I can see that one poking its head out.
