Ogged, are you saying that your statement in 1 falls under the category of "things you never ever hear in real life", or are you saying you think Jesus is teh hott?
Labs is making an unwarranted assumption. Isn't "hot" as a stand-in for attractiveness now spelled "hott"? So maybe Silvana wasn't saying that she thinks philosophers are attractive, but rather that she thinks they (or their arguments) are overheated.
silvana, i impugn nothing. instead, i blame it all on the mainstream media.much easier that way. for the record, i think you're the very essence of philosophical hottitude. grrrrr.
Leave it to you lefties to bring a man's past into things. I voted for the mainstream media before I voted against it. How much clearer do I need to be?Sheesh.
by the way, ogged, i won't forget how you've tried to discredit me by bringing up the reality of what i do. payback's a bitch, my persian friend. you might want to see if you can get the ex to start the car in the morning, if, ahem, you know what i mean
you'd like that, wouldn't you. ogged? better yet, i could be jordan, the Z-list UK celebrity known chiefly for her implants and the number of Y-list types she's slep with.
Speaking of the MSM, I'm sure that you're all familiar with the excessive number of quotes attributed to a spokesman or other individual speaking off the record. So, I'm listening to a podcast of a Kaiser family foundation discussion put on with the Commonwealth Fund of how to improve efficiency and quality in health care that was held on Capitol Hill.
They had a bunch of speakers. Some from the private sector, and a coup;e Congressional staffers. So the moderator introduces the Republican staffer, says who she is and before she begins to speak she says, "I'm afraid that this has to be OFF THE RECORD. So, put your pencils down" There's an mp3 audio available, streaming audio, and there's a transcript with her name and comments on it.
WTF? What exactly does off-the-record mean then? Are these journalist just going to refuse to quote her? What's the point? It had to do with Medicare payment for cost-effectiveness. It wasn't a leak or a juicy scandal that she was talking about.
philphers are almost never hot. Oso is Spanish for bear, though, so perhaps big, hairy philphers are the exception to the rule.
So I understand that oso philphers are big, hairy philphers and philpher osos are bears with a penchant for philphering, but what are phil oso phers? A question for the Amherst College Department of Oso Philphery...
There was only one favorite philosopher, and he died on the cross.

Except when philosophers discovered the work of Rachel Wacholder and published it under their own names, you heard it a lot.
Okay, so I already made another version of this joke. I wanted to make it again.

My comment was infinitely more subtle than your choices allow.

Yes, there also exists the posssibility that Ogged was insinuating that Labs is Christ.
Stigmata Labs.

I don't get it.

phil[oso]phers are hot.
To be technical, she didn't really say "philphers are hot."
Posted by ogmb | Link to this comment | 10-10-05 2:36 PM

And a clear evidentiary case could be made using this photo, wherein Zizek does indeed look overheated, but by no means hott.

Well, yes, they do tend to get a bit overheated, but that can be part of the charm. Can. But I meant teh hott, pardon my archaic usage.
Posted by silvana | Link to this comment | 10-10-05 3:08 PM
sorry, labs, but anyone who thinks philosophers are hot or even hott is not or even nott. at best, emily latella on a bad-hair day, and minus a limb.

armsmasher, i have no idea what you're trying to say, but i'm 100% in agreement, anyway. i think that qualifies me for a job at fox news.

See, at that point the audience should have gotten up as one person and left. Either that or ignored the statement and quoted her copiously by name.
Posted by LizardBreath | Link to this comment | 10-10-05 5:19 PM
oggged, you can have both Jordan and Morganna. Neither one is hott, really, or at least not as hott as silvania, that woodland nymph.

Sometimes I quote Sammy Sosa in the heat of passion. My Dominican accent is kinda weak, though.
