I thought Alan Longmuir (the one in the middle, for those who don't know) was the dreamiest Roller. He was like the 'quiet Roller', like George was the quiet Beatle. At least that's what I thought. My Halloween pants looked just like Les McKeown's (second from right)! Sadly, Derek Longmuir (first on the left) was busted for child porn a few years ago. Not that I still follow these guys.
I was like 60s, really really 60s. The 70s didn't happen for me, I was wearing bell-bottoms and octagonal wire-rims and going to Dead concerts thru 1985. I thought the Sex Pistols were fashion whores, rebellious division. Willie & Waylon were too slick, and Lemmy sold out to commercial interests when he left Hawkwind.
I used to think it was worse:"in this ever changing world in which we live in". I think he's saying "if this ever changing world in which we live in makes you give in and cry..." I've searched the web and this seems to be the most common interpretation. And, since it's on the web, it's gotta be true.
18: I just read the "Why Can't This Be Love" lyrics. That's painful, and a real disappointment, too, since Sammy's previous work had proven him a talented lyricist: "Red, red, I love red. There's no substitute for red."
I've decided (lalalala I can't hear you) that he's singing "in which we're living", which works no problems.
I never hear the second 'in' so "if this ever changing world in which we live makes you give in and cry..." works fine for me. Keeping in mind that I haven't heard the freaking song all the way through in...20 years?
15: second Hawkwind reference on Unfogged in just over a week! And third ever.
I think there's a Norge schizo over on alt.magick who posts incessantly about Hawkwind and their position as gods of black metal, and his something something Satan something something Death etc etc. Must be some Euro/North Sea/dead prostitute thing. (Four!)
Asia chooses a weird airbrushed look that says: "we are unbefuckinglievably lame."
But aren't the lyrics to Heat of the Moment written in iambic pentameter? Which means that Asia does for Shakespeare what the Yellow Rose of Texas does for Dickinson, plus synth and drums...
My über-cool uncle who was the 1980s -- he not only wore Ralph Lauren, he worked for Ralph Lauren, and drove a Porsche, and in my perhaps idealized memory had Patrick Nagel originals in his apartment -- rocked to Asia. Also the Eurhythmics.
As to that I once got a lecture from my schoolbus driver as to how kids these days didn't understand anything, how could they dance to a band called the Arrhythmics. I am not making that up.
Osner is correct, formally, while Weiner is correct, spiritually. Now that I think about it, I guess I mentioned them together because they're the only two bands I can specifically remember my uncle playing. Oh no, wait, the Human League.
Asia also consorted with Roger Dean, who designed a really weird house.

On the Cowboys/Deadskins telecast, FOX is playing The Refused during cuts to commercial. It's a little strange.

That thing the guy on the right is wearing doesn't look like pants to me.
Wolfgang "Bubi" Heilemann photographed the stars of the sixtees and seventees. In this gallery he let you see some of his work.

Speaking of 7, where's Chopper?

The dude says "disco hotspots," also annoying. But then consider this inspired verse:
"(Only time will tell)
You're on your own
Inside your room
(Only time will tell)
You're claiming victory
You were just using me
And there is no one you can use now"
In the words of another great poet from that era, "they don't write 'em like that anymore."

My brother claims that this song has the highest cliche density of any song ever.

Games people play
You take it or you leave it
Things that they say
Just don't make it right
If I'm tellin' you the truth right now
Do you believe it
Games people play
In the middle of the night

Who is more likely to author a post called "Space is deep" (capitalization may vary), Labs or Alameida? I think Labs.

It looks like this treatise refutes Labs' claim on a scholarly level.

From ogmb's link: Growing up in Millburn, New Jersey, on a diet of Led Zeppelin, the Who, and Peter Frampton, she recognized skilled musicianship.
This is a sign of lameness in she, not in the Bay City Rollers. Skilled musicianship, yuck. Bet she dug Asia.

While I'd love another reason to fight you, Weiner, I have to admit that Peter Frampton drives me fucking crazy.
Perhaps you can band together to go beat up Peter Frampton, during a break from the APA.

I think Frampton is giving a talk on qualia under the title "Do You Feel Like I Do?"
