I've never yet found it useful to do more than work from the Google search option. Answers.com is just Wikipedia in a plastic disguise, it's been years since I've found a reason to use Yahoo Search, and I can't think why I'd want to search e-bay or Creative Commons, although, of course, others may find these options constantly useful. And Amazon sometimes has interesting results, but they'll turn up on Google if so.
Hm, okay, I thought you were talking about the search bar. The QS described also strikes me as unnecessary, though; I can get to Google by typing "g" in my search bar, or Amazon by "a," and the like, already, without having to "set up" options. But I'm sure it's information some will find useful, and search tips are always kewll.
Hey any ideas about this? Quick searches are very useful and I use them all the time on both home and office machines (same version of Firefox on both). However dragging text from the page I'm reading to the quick search box, which works fine on office machine, crashes Firefox on the home machine, every time. This behavior has remained constant through at least one upgrade of Firefox.

1.5 was a quite major upgrade, and it was only a couple or so weeks ago. I have no idea if this is relevant, but anyone using Firefox who hasn't upgraded likely should.
During the first few days after I upgraded to 1.5 my browser crashed 5 or 6 times. It had never crashed before, and seems to be doing fine now, so I don't know what the problem was.
I haven't had a crash yet, and I certainly don't undertest it. Just my own datapoint; I'm sure there will be a crash sooner or later. However, over the past three days, I've numerous times been sporadically unable to reach Crooked Timber, though not had a problem with any other domain I'm familiar with; no idea if they've had a problem, or there's just been an intermittent problem sending packets between me and them.
*pthbtbt!*

Amazing.
The keyword for this site on my computer is "Unf."

Thanks, Gary. I didn't know about that yet.

And just think, if Unfogged were less like an IRC channel, I wouldn't have felt able to thank Gary.
