I always get confused: does APA stand for American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Planning Association, American Poolplayers Association, American Philosophical Association, or Administrative Procedure Act? http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=APA+&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1&cop=&ei=UTF-8
I want to go on record that my favorite interview ever was with Labs' department (a few years before Labs arrived). Of course, the people I mean to be complimenting won't know that I'm complimenting them unless they both read this blog and know that Labs is their colleague, and I expect that at least the second condition is not met. So in case the first condition is met, I'll not say anything specific about the interview.
Edifying fable version: The interview was great philosophical fun, and the pure-philosophy part went overlong, leaving little time for the sickness that it the rest of a convention interview. It came right after an interview that was no fun at all, in which I had the distinct impression that two or three of the twelve-to-fifteen people crammed into the room were openly mocking my speech mannerisms. And yet, and yet... I got a flyback at the school of meanies but none at Labs' school. I infer that each interview was simply the standard treatment.
Feel free to delete the above comment if it violates the prohibition against anonymous anonymity-busting. I merely wanted to congratulate FL on his department's tradition of interviewing well, and to reminisce a little.
6: Actually, same here--we were interviewing for the entire Thursday and Friday, and I didn't really have the time or energy for any drinking until the end. The Pacific should be less crazed, if you're going.
Frederick, to be merciful, it's the American Philosophical Association that is being discussed here.
So shall we get drunk at some later APA?

That "Christmas with my alcoholic family" thing you linked to is about the funniest/most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

All of those, and no doubt more, Frederick.

Definitely more, like the American Payroll Association and the Appalachian Pagan Alliance.

Yeah, I'm sorry to have missed you, Matt. The interviewing + preparing took up pretty much every bit of time.

The APA's lead priestesses there look like extras from The Far Side.

So are you going to hire anyone?

I love that Christmas drunken bash. Not the kind of scene where I'd fit in, but it looks like fun. Flo sounds great.

My favorite was the radar gun and the "terrifying 174 mph blow."
