Well, now that you scared the bejeebus out of me, I installed the fix and uninstalled the DLL thingamajig (yes, 'thingamajig' because I was a liberal arts major).
But before I did, I spent too much time wondering if the fix wasn't some sneaky way to get me to install a virus on my own computer. So I visited Slash Dot and read comments from all sorts of people who've never seen a girl naked but who knew - JUST KNEW! - that this problem would happen. Also that they could have come up with a better patch.
They also said that tomorrow would be a hellish day for IT people everwhere. Alas. Don't envy them that, naked girls or no.
Good question. I imagine it's so the premier bowl game is the only one on. Still, not exactly conducive to a bowl watching party. But maybe, in this new world of technology, tv folks want us all to watch alone, because they're counting TVs, and not viewers.
Yeah, I think that with New Year's on a Sunday and the Rose Bowl on Monday, it just happens that the BCS championship game ends up on a Wednesday. No doubt a different New Year's would mean a different final bowl game date.
Yeah, but with lots of fudging and statistical guestimation, which let them "account" for group watching. There's less room for that now, so the "hard" number matters more. At least, this is what I think I remember reading somewhere--and I grant my original comment didn't say this.
I unregistered the dll according to the instructions in the second link, but the first link in the post doesn't work for me.

The dude who made the patch distributed the source along with it.

Great, now I'll never get to sleep.
BTW, totally off topic, but what's the deal with a bowl game on a Wednesday?

Why less room? What's wrong with massaging the "hard" number in a principled way?
