I was wondering that myself.
Actually, my current beard has just been cut back with a Wahl #3. My failure is in failing to shave the neck beard with regularity.
My failure is in failing
Whoops. I blame snow. And Btock.

Like this?
If you googleimage 'Stan beard' you get this.
Would he look more or less terrifying if the dude in the photo wore a badge that said, "I did this for money"?
last job interview i went to i forgot to shave my week+stubble
i got the job, but it turned out to pay 8$ an hour, so i'll be glad when its done.
Looking more closely at the event description, I see that it's in Bend, which is three hours' drive from here. Hmm. Road trip?
5: I blame snow
I get no kick from cocaine.
You people are making me very curious about what Stanley looks like.
Also, reminding me that I keep forgetting to buy razor blades, and must do so soon or wind up looking all grizzly.

Regal, humble, and yet eminently fuckable. NINA.
NINA
Always with the low-hanging fruit, this guy!
I don't think anything I'm seeing in a Google image search for "NINA" is likely to resemble Stanley.
NINA = No Irish Need Apply. Geez, Standpipe's blog non-readers.
Oh.
I thought it stood for "Nine-Inch Natilo, Awesome!"
Maybe I should grow a beard, since it's getting really fucking cold. My plans to do interesting things this weekend are starting to seem less appealing than the "huddle indoors under a pile of blankets" option.
So I switched to using a safety razor from a regular disposable today. Obviously I still need to work on my wet shaving technique but I managed to shave with only a little bleeding and what I thought was some mild and inconsequential razor burn on my neck. That is until I went to Judo practice and the instructor wanted to work on strangles. Having heavy cotton cloth dragged across even minor razor burn is totes unpleasant.
clapton's Cocaine is wonderful understatement.
When I was in the east in winter, I found that the extra warmth of having longer - but not long - hair did not make up for having to brush it out of my eyes all the time. But the first day after a haircut in January or February, I really noticed the cold.
Have you people seen the moon? Tonight? Go look right now.
It's raining. No moon for me. I did see it yesterday, and it was glorious.
Have you people seen the moon? Tonight?
I saw it earlier. It was huge. One might almost think it's a gigantic fucking rock that is just kind of floating up there.
I saw it from the office window before I left.
Wow, pretty impressive (even through the clouds). Thanks for the heads-up.
What's this through the clouds you speak of? Is there something beyond?
I'm told it's the brightest of the year. I can see mountains 25 miles away.
Bright or no, it's still just an arrant thief.
It did seem like an unusually bright gray out there tonight.
Is there something beyond?
Yes, a very bright moon.
Rain stopped, so I went out with the cat to see if I could see anything. I have to second fake accent's finding - nothing to be seen but an unusually bright gray sky. Cat was enthralled nonetheless.
I think it's gray all the way down the coast. My parents have been getting more rain than I have in the past week, and they're south of Parenthetical's location.
More importantly, did the cat tweet the gray sky?
Maybe I should grow a beard, since it's getting really fucking cold.
The concept "bearduary" welcomes you.

Wow. Weird phone call from my brother.

Wolf moon, biggest and brightest of the year. So I read, at least; can't see it here.
42: Ha-ha weird or creepy weird?
Are you only ethical during the full moon? 'Cause that would be a sweet deal.
"Even during the full moon" is really the thing to say.
But that would be the opposite of a sweet deal.
Couldn't see dick in terms of the moon last night, but the night before she was pretty fucking impressive. Glorious, even. I stood in the drive and gaped.
Now, back to going through snow pics.
Also, The Final Sacrifice is one of my very favorite MST3K's. Now I feel the need to pass part of the snowy night watching Prince of Space.
I'm really enjoying the picture accompanying this post.
I knew you had taste, McPants.
CJB: What kind of blade? I had terrible razor burn with the first brand I tried, and it got instantly better with a different one (about two months ago).
What kind of blade?
Right now a Merkur Super. I am almost positive the problems are more from poor technique than the blade though.
Merkur blades are also what I started with, mostly because a couple of them came with the razor, and they sucked. I'm on Derby right now. Reading around places like here I learned that the Merkur blades are not generally well-liked, so it wasn't just me.
Technique is definitely important, but even in the first couple of weeks I was using the stuff I could tell the difference when I switched blade brands.
I could tell the difference when I switched blade brands.
I will give the Merkur a couple more tries. I have some Feather blades to try after that. Then I am probably going to order a sampler pack to try some other blades as well.
I use the cheapo Israeli blades you can get on ebay [Persona?]. However, ordinary Wilkinson Sword are fine, too. I found the Merkur blades too sharp and they irritated my skin.
Technique is everything though, go with the grain, prep properly. I don't get any razor burn or irritation at all anymore [and I'm not remotely anal about it, shaving takes about 5 - 10 minutes start to finish, including cleaning the sink].
