If you're of the shorter-attention-span set, I'd invite you to start the video at forty minutes. But the whole thing's pretty good.
Any particular reason you posted this long video in the middle of the night?
2: Totes symbolic, man. We're in the dark on this issue. (More honestly, I don't know. I was watching it and liked it. The blog needs extra blog food, and I thought you guys would be interested. I long to make lame Modest Mouse references. I haven't caught up on that music thread? The possible reasons are almost endless.)
Shoulda been "long video to link about".
It's just that it doesn't seem that very many people will be watching the video or discussing it until the morning.
4: Shoulda been. Shoulda fucking been.
I, for example, am going to bed now rather than watching the video.
It does look interesting, though. There was a NYT article about this issue a few months ago.
Will it, though? Sometimes they disappear!
5: I'm not sure I understand your critique. I figured some UK commenters might chime in, and then the morning commenters would chime in, too. And from there on. What's the issue? I'd have posted it earlier if it weren't so damn long for me to watch.
In any case, something worth sharing at 2am is as well worth sharing as at 9pm. Sure, I wish I'd had something ready to post at 9pm but I didn't. I was stuck at work. I feel under the gun here.
The blog needs extra blog food
That doesn't mean you have to start linking to trash.
Twelve seemed uncharacteristically mean until I figured it out. I'm a smarty.
I award neb ten future tenure points.
(That may have been uncharacteristically mean, but I doubt it.)
What's the issue?
Looking back in the harsh light of day, I see that you're right, of course, and that posting this when you did is a perfectly reasonable thing to do (and I'm hardly one to complain, since I do much of my own posting late at night). I think I was just tired and not thinking too clearly, so my thought process went something like: "Huh, video. Whoa, hour-long. It's two o'clock in the morning; that's much too late to start watching a video like this. I wonder why he posted it now." Thus, my comment, made before realizing that obviously people can just watch it in the morning.
made before realizing that obviously people can just watch it in the morning
Although, obviously, no one did.
19: It's possible I overestimated people's interest in an hour-long video about a boat ride.
20: Any particular reason you left that comment just now?
I tried to find some text summary to go with it, but failed to find any such. It's interesting, but with a lot of web video I find myself thinking I'll just watch the whole thing later, which is indeed what I've been thinking about this video.
Git a long little video. Rawhide!
