It embarrasses me not just a little that I like that song. (Not the radio edit, so much, though.)
(Also, it occurs to me that I spend a lot of time being embarrassed about my tastes in music. I blame Unfogged.)
It does have some nice guitar playing courtesy Adrian Belew.
How did the radio edit deal with the not-suitable-for-radio bits?
3: It's chicken-themed: "I wanna pluck you like an animal."
"I want to feel you from the inside of your car."
5: what, like the back of a volkswagon?
Basically, "fuck" ends up sounding more like "fffk", which isn't all that different from "fuck".
And apparently "I want to feel you from the inside" could have meant anything and was allowed on the radio.
While it is true that the radio edit of NIN's "Closer" is not the best way to experience,

I see the relevant pronoun has sportingly made an appearance.
13: My favorite Alp is Piz Bernina.
Speaking of music of the early 90s: I just saw, for the first time, the trailer for The Social Network that features a weird choral version of "Creep". It's... not very flattering toward Zuckerberg. But I guess his billions console him.
"I want to feel you from the inside" could have meant anything
"I'm in You" reached #2 way back in 1977.
18: "reached #2" could also mean anything.
Most work days I take an englassed elevator that overlooks some HVAC equipment on an adjacent roof that is prominently marked "REZNOR"*. For some reason it usually gives me a mild sub-rush of satisfaction when I notice it--maybe because it semi-fits in with the famous Warhol icons which serve as supplementary floor designations on the elevator, or maybe I'm just easily amused by anything at that time of the morning.
