Re: The rhythm is the bass, and the bass is the treble.

If Warren hadn't been in such a pickle Nate would never have been able to save him in the first place, so I think some credit-sharing is reasonable.

That is fantastic. I love the choices of which terms deserve links to other wikipedia entries. For example.

Afterward, he generously shares the credit for neutralizing the situation with Warren . . .

Yes, this is much funnier than the page edit I came across the other day whereby "Polish language" redirected to the article for "East German language".

From the Manfred Gerlach entry:

"During Gerlach's leadership, LDPD developed some small scale contacts with its West German counterparts, the Free Democrats. However, as a state functionary, he defended the nationalisation of last substantive private enterprises. Anyway, after Erich Honecker had personally forbidden publication of a book by Gerlach, the latter began trying to find a new profile for his party and re-adopt authentic liberalism."

What I love are the entries that exhibit stockholm syndrome with respect to their totally trashy subjects.

That is great. Sometimes I wonder if Megan plays this song on headphones in her office at high volume.

Looking at the real lyrics, it's worth noting that neither Nate or Warren are the "213" anymore, due to a change in area codes. Long Beach is now "the 562."

I'm so happy that I live in a regular area code (i.e. one where the middle digit is '0' or '1'). I realize this is a pointless source of joy.

I wish the author had employed not quite as many rhetorical flourishes/anachronisms. As it is now, it's a little too apparent that s/he intends a humorous juxtaposition between the two rhetorical styles.

11:I like it obvious.

I have been noting more whimsy in Wiki entries lately, and less warnings about "does not meet our standards"
Part of it is I think some entries written by people who have English as a 2nd language, which is great, they have the knowledge. Part of it may just be a loosening up. There is no reason this entry needs to be serious, and written in the same style as some political or scientific article.

OTOH, it is getting a little insane for every story, song, poem, Marvel character, city, house, person, dining room table to have its own extended entry. It is starting to freak me out.

Steven's Harmonium now has an entry for every poem.

Speaking of G-Funk, I just saw some of these stamps. They look really fake and I just don't like them.

I haven't seen any of these yet, but WANT. I want to make tiny little frames to put around them and hang them on the wall.

Stamp collecting is now something for old people, so it's possible to buy sheets of old stamps for face value.

It's so obvious that it's trite, but personal mail correspondence is like a telegram. I don't know what most of my friends' handwriting looks like.

Headphones are BULLSHIT. If I'm listening, everybody's listening.

No, not really, and I don't listen to music at work. I listen at home, and crank it up so that my neighbors can share. Also, although I often like NateDogg, I don't especially like that song. Also also, I've been listening mostly to big band music this month. All songs should have a horns section, says I.

I don't think the next door neighbor who's going in for cancer surgery soon will appreciate that. I think he's kind of having a hard time.

Huh, I had figured the OP for something like the superwhite asinine Boyz N the Hood cover, but the interview says the author's black. Tone is complicated, either that or I don't understand the kids these days.

I like the brass in Cake's music. They've gotten worse as time goes on, unfortunately. They wree a lot of fun live a few years back.

Too loud over speakers means driving to me.

The meetup thing is overhyped. Couldn't essentially the same thing be accomplished by having a sets of commenters occassionally video-chat with one another, while drinking? Advantages: you wouldn't need to leave your house, or wear pants. Disadvantages: ...?
