What if we feed them mouse droppings?
Their constitution is abused and they become stunned for 2d4 turns.
I was so sad -- there's a Nethack app for the iPhone, but I find the interface unworkably difficult. If it hadn't been too annoying to use, I could be not getting any work done at all, ever!

I have no idea, but I'd be surprised if there weren't a bunch of them. Not that I'd encourage you to find out.
I'm really hoping snarkout can come up with a love-themed comment here to hit the trifecta.
(I'm sorry. I'm reading the political threads but not responding now. I just can't.)

Time stands still while you and the succubus lie in each other's arms. That was a very educational experience.
This is some kind of computery thing, isn't it. I hate it when you all start speaking in mysterious words.
2: So we're obviously not talking about American trolls, then.
Huh. Interesting. I'd assumed that when LB referred to "NetHack" she was talking about some way of "hacking" the "net." Of course, I had no idea what you were talking about because I spent my youth rolling with my homies and jocking the hoes doing equally nerdy but non-computer related things.

Silly person. You don't hack the net, you hack the planet!

Pogs!
15: Nice to see our brains work the same way.
10, 12: A surprisingly excellent game, for what it looks like. I spent a lot of time playing it in law school and back before that in college.
LB'S HACKING THE GIBSON
Gibson-hacking is like when you pickle your own onions?
LB, do you know about nethack.alt.org? (Or would that be a career-ending discovery?)
14: You mean you don't read rfts's blog and follow the links?
I admire people who play nethack using the text-mode interface.
You make me want to start a game of netHack*, but i don't need a time-waster at the moment.
*I don't think I've ever actually played netHack, but I did play quite a bit of Hack,

Neither do I, but I've got a game in progress right now.

You'll probably start having problems with mice now.

Somebody must have told Will Saletan that he isn't the dumbest son of a bitch on the planet and he took it as a challenge to prove otherwise.

Many, the simplest of which looks like this.
28: I almost posted "There can't possibly be a more infuriating essay than this" but couldn't quite bring myself to deal with him.
I wonder if i ever played that game as a kid. We got passed loads of shareware games and played the original Adventure obsessively, but I don't specifically remember this one. Now I'm trying to resist getting sucked in...
I play Angband in ASCII every day with my morning coffee. "R" read scroll, "F" fire arrow, etc. 'd' for dragon, 'V' for Vampire.
After well over a decade of trying, I ascended a couple of years ago and have not played since.

There are a ton of Roguelikes available for the iPhone including some ports of classic ones. I'm no expert, but people seem to speak highly of Sword of Fargoal. Of course, it's not quite Angband hardcore, but it's still a Roguelike. I really like 100 Rogues, which has a great interface and a lot of character. It was really buggy at launch and was missing some features but it's been patched a lot since and is great now. If you want a more old school approach, there's RogueTouch, one of the earliest and most faithful roguelikes on the device.
