Re: So perfect.

What an ass. Is this the one whose students come to you for help?

Also, there are some good people in this world, but, man, are there a lot who just plain suck.

See, if you'd only changed it into two fives, you'd be even more content. And then you "found" $5.

1: That's the one! And with the highly ridiculous pedagogical technique of filling the board with notes before the students show up to class, then reading the notes outloud, and dismissing class after 20 minutes.

That story is perfect.

I wonder if you could find studies showing that his is, in fact, the worst possible pedagogical approach.

Bad Teacher wasn't very good, but I liked the pedagogic technique of showing up, putting on a movie like Stand and Deliver and then sleeping off your hangover.

You should really just give him $5 dollars after the going away party.

Starting to see news outlets saying Zimmerman is in custody on a murder charge.

That he is in custody now makes the statement of his ex-lawyers even weirder.

Once you've sat through voir dire and been excused because they built the jury without calling on you, you can tell anyone anything about what you saw, right?

Have you been formally dismissed and told you can go home? Then, yes (I believe).

bmaz at Emptywheel about Zimmerman charges.

Way overcharged. If Zimmerman has any evidence, at all, that points to self-defense...and gets a decent jury...acquittal should be easy. An overcharge also deters the Feds.

Zimmerman also tried to talk to the D.A. (did he make contact?) lost his lawyers (money?) and turned himsefl in instantly. Maybe a plea to some lower manslaughter has already been agreed.

Most of the time, a jury is allowed to convict on a lesser charge.

18 -- yeah, I'm not a criminal lawyer, but I'd think the judge would be allowed (sometimes required) to instruct on a lesser included offense. That post seemed weird and wrong to me.

Florida legal procedure may be as fucked as the rest of the state, I suppose.

22: Florida has a chart of lesser included (includable?) offenses. I'm not about to pretend to understand the verbiage around it though.

Yeah, a quick Google got me Florida Rule of Criminal Procedure 3.510, which appears to specifically permit instructing the jury on a lesser-included offense. I'm not gonna pretend to be a Florida or criminal lawyer, though, but I did leave some comments at that blog asking for clarification.

Can't they add/drop charges without any issues at this point? He's barely been in custody for any time at all.

Drop/add doesn't cost anything for the first week, unless you've marked-up the textbook.

If you marked-up the textbook, you stand to make money when you drop the class.
