It's entertaining to open the image in an editing program. 1) you can clip out the chunks of the image and directly compare them, as Ogged has done. 2) You can gradually slice out pieces of the edge of the shadow, and watch as the square in the middle magically gets darker. That's a mind-bending exercise.
