I enjoyed the comment that another Tennessee Republican had been worried that Muslims might be using the floor to pray on, but had been reassured that the floor had been deliberately installed at the wrong height for this to happen.
Also, they have a procedure requiring anyone who looks Muslim to be blindfolded and spun around three times so they won't know where Mecca is.
Is your washroom breeding Bolsheviks jihadists?
If they are washing their feet, they might see the Tenn Repub's bathroom stall meetings.
Yes to 4 and 6. I keep reloading this just to reread them. (And to avoid work, of course.)
OT: If this is available as sort of an open thread, I have a couple of ignorant questions about taxes.
1. I think I've just heard that you can deduct property taxes, and maybe property insurance payments. I had no idea; I've never owned a home, but do now since my mom died. Where do I do that deducting? I'd have to itemize my deductions, I fear.
2. What software do people favor for downloading and sorting through financial statements? I confess I've been using a version of MS Money from like 2003 for lo these 10 years, but the bank is increasingly reluctant to provide downloads in the requisite format. They seem to think Quicken is a good idea.

As a summary of the Prop 8 oral argument, this is both funny and, I think, pretty much accurate. Worth a click.

8. How true is this outside the fragile and disappearing consensus of "very serious people"? I ask because, a propos the other thread I was thinking about British hostility to the EU (overstated) and how it's based on a belief that Britain doesn't care if France and Germany start fighting again because America will bail them (Britain) out; and wondering if you could actually muster 25% of the US electorate who would in fact give a shit if Britain sank beneath the waves.
11: A few years ago I would have agreed with you, but now nobody wants to lose Downton Abbey.
Chris Y, have you posted in the wrong thread?
I feel that you should post it in the right thread, as it is of interest. But I am not telling you what to do, obviously. This is just my feeling. Myself, I'm excited about the US Supreme Court cases at hand.
11 in fact to this, although it also refers to the Cyprus thread.
8.1- Yes, you have to itemize. Property taxes goes along with state taxes as deductible items. Property insurance is not, unless you're talking about PMI, in which case I'm not sure.
OT- I was chosen as a Glass explorer, but sadly it probably won't be released in time for me to wear it to Unfoggedycon because that would have been awesome.
17.1: Right, thanks. No idea what PMI is, which probably means it's not relevant.
19: Primary mortgage insurance. If you never took out a mortgage for more than 80% of the value of your house, you probably don't pay PMI.
21: Ah. thanks. That wouldn't be relevant, then.
|| Folks looking for news of the GTMO hunger strike might have missed this. I understand why they felt like they needed to have a panelist from the other side, but good God. |>
