More background? I don't want to google 'the fappening' at work.
The naked celebrity picture theft/release.
The Fappening refers to the theft and posting of all of those celebrity nude photos.
The Fappening is what happens when apo links to pictures of gigantic centipedes.
I haven't seen much real progress since the Fifties. 'Murrcans are still totally freaked out by their bodies and everyone else's. Feh.
What's wrong with the twitter response? I mean, apparently people are using twitter to share links to the photos and talk about them if they're into them. Is the commentary especially poisonous? The sharing? Lots of people share links to torrents of popular material also.
The only way that I see any of this is to actively look for it though.

C'mon, what's the worst that could fappen?
Yeah, I was curious what ogged considers abusive on twitter. It's not the photos, since comments suggest he found some yesterday if not before. Slut-shaming the subjects rather than just reporting factually (one assumes) on them?

Legality aside, there's clearly a moral difference between sharing intimate, private photos and (yes, illegally) sharing works intended for public consumption.

You don't think he both found them yesterday, and finds it abusive that they were being shared? Searching for them doesn't mean he couldn't have been disappointed that they were findable.
To be fair, some of the reactions on Twitter are pretty good.
Many things to find objectionable:
1) The casual trade in stolen intimate photos.
2) The pubic banter about women's bodies (I know, I know).
3) Slut-shaming.
4) Straightforward abuse ("Your vagina looks like sirloin steak" being the one I reported).
12: How exactly did the photos get stolen? I understand how paparazzi photos of princesses sunbathing in the nude get out there. I don't understand how people are getting access to a whole bunch of intimate photos of celebrities which were taken by the celebrities themselves.
Persons unknown hacked their Apple accounts.
Apple said they were "targeted attacks," so it sounds like the hackers somehow got access to specific people's accounts, probably by guessing or social engineering their passwords.
Your iPhone automatically backs up pictures you take to 'the Cloud'. Anyone with your password can download them remotely. Not sure how the passwords were acquired.
Come to think, how long before iPhones/smartphones generally add an 'incognito mode' like browsers have for porn surfing, so that you can mark a picture when taken not to be backed up remotely? That has to be easy to do as soon as it occurs to anyone.

I'm pretty sure you can do that already, at least in Android. And of course you can always just turn off auto-backup and manually back up the ones you want to.

This can be enabled or disabled via the control panel settings on your phone. You can't as of yet designate individual photos for this, per 18, but anyone who doesn't want all their photos shared [hacked] might want to disable cloud backup.
OK, I guess that I assume that there's a big population of people who will say terrible things for attention-- either actual attention or traffic numbers. Exploring worst allowable behavior or browsing comments on celebrity posts-- you're looking at ill-behaved teenagers.
Kids (or adults, worse) being genuinely cruel to others they actually know seems much worse to me, the shithead who ran an exploitation site and made people pay to get themselves removed, for instance. Looking at this seems to me akin to browsing 4chan.
Hosting site terms of service are another question-- all those clicks do pay for servers and staff, and it's got to be basically a business decision to keep the data up.
Does anyone know about the traffic limits of google drive? Maybe the data will migrate overseas pretty quickly.
I had been under the impression that today's young people, when not busy calling one another "basic bitches,"* were generally quicker on the calling-things-racist-and-sexist than even the "Divest the Night to Rock the Vote" '90s generation.
* I don't know and I don't want to know.
Because startlingly beautiful people whose jobs include maintaining beautiful bodies are probably less self-conscious about taking nude pictures?
And also more into looking at themselves and performing for others.
Update on the Emma Watson thing. What is this fuckwad playing at?
