The people at my favorite pizza shop still go to Italy for a couple of weeks every summer. They just shut the door and leave.
Unless everyone can meet on the 8th, the 15th or the 22nd might be better for me.
I think 4/21-24 are out for me because of a super-interesting conference that will be full of fascinating people.
Friend named Frankie+"the gang back in Queens" means definite doo-wop soundtrack, 1980s-style 1950s nostalgia film setting. LB would be known as "Lizzy B" and wear pink satin jackets.
4 -- so you're going to the next Rainbow Family Gathering too! Great!
She calls it yeasty ham loaf. "So yeasty, and yet there's a smack of ham to it"
Flourless. I have been to this particular rodeo before.
So, 4/15? And doesn't have to be Fresh Salt, of course.
13: Some people file early to get refunds.
And some people file late to help fund useful government programs.
Semi off-topic, but are any commenters in Edinburgh? I.F.'s giving a talk here and I came along for the lovely weather. (It actually was lovely this morning, but we got caught in a hailstorm yesterday afternoon.)
So it looks like the 15th then. LB? Anyone else?

Some people already had to file amended returns because they received a surprise K-1, [string of curses].
So we're locked in on the date (lurkers, of course, welcome), and if anyone has a better idea than Fresh Salt, they should speak up. I don't know, is there anyplace convenient with ridiculous cocktails? I haven't done that sort of thing in a while.
I've always wanted to go to the Campbell Apartment and have never had the chance. But Fresh Salt would be fine too.
If you've always wanted to, we should -- it is a lovely space. Dress code that excludes sneakers, which does require remembering ahead of time.
I think that means reserving a table, though -- it's been terribly crowded after work when I've been.
Yes, it's your party. We should reserve. If people don't want to run up too big a tab with the fancy cocktails and all, we could repair eventually to Jimmy's Corner.
Is this still happening? JM and I are up for it.
Yes -- I was going to move this up to the top tonight. I'll call the Campbell Apartment and reserve a table for... Flip implied he was coming, so with you and JM, Barry, and me that's five, there's an out-of-towner who has indicated possible attendance, so six, any other attendees should pipe up so I can adjust the reservation.
I will be in NYC from Thursday evening to Monday evening (and then fleetingly again on the Friday).
Drat, the end of this week is bad for me. Does Monday evening mean including Monday evening, or does it mean that you're leaving Monday evening? Because I could do something Monday night.
Excellent -- I will adjust the reservation (under the assumption that they ever call me back so I can actually make it).
Sorry i will not be able to make it, but best wishes to Barry! Next year in Sietch Tabr. ..
Hitch in the plans -- the Campbell Apartment will not take reservations for parties of less than 8. Smaller parties request a table when they get there, and drink at the bar until one is free.
So, whoever shows up first, put Barry's name on the list to request a table, and hang out at the bar until then -- whoever shows up later check for that name.
32 How many of us are confirmed?
31 Thanks, ajay. You get down that way you drop me a line, ya hear?
29 Tia!
27 It would be great to finally meet Alex. I don't want to step on any plans after my farewell party but I just might be able to do Monday.
6, and Tia coming later makes 7.
I question the choice of name for the reservation when "Mutombo" is clearly available.
It is possible that it might be detected as a pseudonym.
Any dress code issues I should be aware of other than the no sneakers rule (which is not a problem). Dark jeans ok? Though I suppose I'll feel under-dressed if I wear them.
I should be there, groovy hepcats.
37: Proper attire (no baseball caps, t-shirts, athletic shoes, etc.) is required.
I wonder if they would allow Moby in his animal-embroidered pants.
or if they would make Thorn cover up her nipple.
I haven't been to New York in over ten years and I feel sad about that. You're not helping.
It's not far at all, and I understand there are people who come here for purely touristic reasons. You should bring the family.
They're probably too spoiled for that given how often I take the family to Nebraska.
We have a majestic herd of bison, if it would make your Nebraska-spoiled child more comfortable. (Do they have bison in Nebraska? I figure they must.)
They don't have that many bison in Lincoln.
Anyway, NYC doesn't have a single Runza.
It's also an easier trip by Megabus or train.
I was in the part of New York alleged to have bison last weekend, but didn't see even one. Lots of majestic accents, though.
I am going to Seattle soon. To get there on Amtrak, I need to leave three days ahead of time. Also, it is apparently impossible to return.
You can go from Pittsburgh to Seattle. You can go from Seattle to Chicago. You can go from Chicago to Pittsburgh. But you can't go from Seattle to Pittsburgh.
I'm flying from NY to Chicago on Monday evening.
That's probably much easier than taking the train.
Drat, I really can't manage anything Thursday-Sunday. I'm sorry to have missed you.
Damn. Are you available for lunch Monday?
57: I'm hoping. I'll be downtown for four nights but I am going to be pretty tightly scheduled.
In case anyone was worried, we found Knecht.
"Are you there, unfogged? It's me, Ruprecht."
42 I understand there are people who come here for purely touristic reasons
There would probably be a lot more, if New York hotels weren't so obscenely expensive.
Yes, no one comes here anymore because it's too crowded.
Bonsaisue and her best friend are going to NY this very weekend for tourism.
60: Well, I'm near downtown & loosely scheduled when here at all. Might be harder to lure NickS down.
64: They don't seem as expensive to me as Boston hotels. Living in NYC and Toronto is more expensive than Boston, but the hotels in Boston are really pricy. So, on the higher end hotels, I know that you would pay $300CDN to stay at the Royal York in Toronto, a Fairmont Hotel. Right now the USD is 1.5CDN, but they're often closer to par. At the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, you're starting at $500.
69: I've never had a west coast meet-up. Or an east coast one. I get there 4/29 and leave early 5/3. I need to bond with colleagues (apparently, instead of chatting with coworkers, I do something else during the day), but I'm sure I be free at dinner or after dinner on Friday or Saturday or both. I'm staying near the convention center, so I think that puts me close to most things.
Thanks to all you reprobates who came out last night. That was great, I couldn't have had a better send-off.
