Somewhere today someone linked to some Congressional goober from Syracuse who made his reputation as a prosecutor by going after the 100 most notorious gang members in the city.
That had me wondering who had the distinction of being the 99th most notorious gang member in Syracuse.
the 99th most notorious gang member in Syracuse.
Sort of like being the hundred and forty-second fastest gun in the West.
Or the most recently resupplied pot dealer in the dorms.
my daughter had to be admitted to the hospital and it seems like is scheduled for emergency surgery tonight--our night, their day. I flew to my dad's for less than 18 hours before flying right back to Dulles and now on to London. There was a bad glitch in re-issuing my ticket and I was on hold with Narnia Airlines for 40 minutes. When I came up to the Virgin Atlantic counter and they were like "nope!" I only barely avoided crying in front of everyone. girl x also has a cold (?) and high fever I don't know what's happening at all. I'm so scared and sad.
FUCK ALL THIS BULLSHIT IT IS NOT KOOL ANYMORE
Shit, al, that's awful. Hope you get home as easily and quickly as possible, and all good thoughts for your daughter.
Yes. I'll keep you both in my thoughts.
That sounds like an awful couple of days.
Wishing for better health for your family and that you can get home without having any more crises.
That sounds really awful, al. Thinking of you.
psst -- FYI, JPJ, I wrote a long comment for you in the ocho nights thread.
Echoing what others said - I can only imagine how scary and frustrating that is. All the best.
5: Speedy travels to you and fast recoveries to your girls.
Agreed. I hope her surgery has gone well - all best wishes.
Holy shit, Al. What a string of awfuls. I hope your daughter's surgery went well and that the airlines get you home quickly.
thanks guys! I'm in narnia in the cab and they put her surgery off because spine surgery is some big deal (who knew?). going to maybe get in the pool for a sec at home and then go to to NUH (narnia uni hospital). I wanted to pick camellias at my dad's and roll them up in damp paper towels to bring back, but it's the literal thing they tell you not to do and our luck has been poor lately. god I haven't been in Bluffton in the fall in ages it's so lovely. I wanted to kayak over to "the lost world" with my bro--it's an island in the marsh with a big horseshoe shaped lagoon and nothing touched by the hand of man. at least I got to eat trout caught that day, fried in cornmeal, and corn dodgers and grits and tomato and chow-chow pickle. I'll let y'all know how it goes at the hospital.

This is beautiful.
