That's okay, my feelings will only be slightly hurt if nobody wants to meet me (come to think of it, I met a couple of the NYC people at unfoggedcon; perhaps the novelty factor is already exhausted . . .)
It's a long lead time -- usually we're planning these a day or two in advance. And there really aren't many commenters left in NY.
It's also a slow time for the blog. I figure there will be more people around after labor day.
But I believe in giving people a chance to plan in advance.
It's always Fresh Salt that grabs 'em. And no one has suggested it yet.
There's still a chance for you to be the first!
Allow me to suggest a Boston meetup for the coming week. I'll be back in the country for several days.
I had been thinking Fresh Salt, but I just had a different idea. Would anybody be interested in Dim Sum for brunch? One disadvantage, we'd want to get an approximate head count in advance, because I'd want to make a reservation, but it would be very tasty. . .
That's not the worst idea I've ever heard. I'm in.
I don't think that any of the unfoggedtariat live in Vancouver, but I'm heading to Victoria on Thursday and will be staying near Vancouver Monday- Sunday.
If anyone is in that area, I'd love to meet up.
Unfortunately JM and I are going to be out on Long Island for the weekend. If you want to combine dim sum and evening event you could go to Nom Wah Tea Parlor.
Allow me to second the suggestion in 7.

I think of Dim Sum as a late morning/early afternoon thing. But I'd be curious if you have recommendations for a place. Looking online the two places that I would lean towards are either Jing Fong (a place that's been around forever and is supposed to be solid, but not cutting-edge) or Joy Luck Palace which is a newer place which got some very good reviews when it opened.
Are there any Netherlands based commenters here? I'll be going on the 10th and meeting up with Chani a day or so after and will be in Amsterdam until around the 24th with a brief overnight stay in London for this. Would definitely be into a meetup and also a suggestion of where to stay (still haven't booked a hotel) and good restaurants and places to drink good beer. I'm not into the other recreational substances on offer there.
16. Martin Wisse used to comment here occasionally. I don't know if he still reads/lurks. Seems like a good guy.
16 He does indeed. Also a former commenter at B&T. I'll have to reach out to him (I think we actually follow each other on Twitter but I don't see him there much). Thanks. Any other takers?
I'm probably up for dim sum on the 10th.
3, there really aren't many commenters left in NY
I'm left in NY, but I really hardly every comment anymore.
Yes, but I'll never forget you because your name rhymes with the name of the fish in my son's preschool room.
NYC is now a city of lurkers. The commenters are in Pittsburgh.
That's because of the lower cost of living.
Also, we now have really good dim sum. Or dumplings from a China-related island at least. I don't know what makes a dumpling 'dim sum' on a technical level. If it's the little bamboo basket, we're covered.
Update: I'm thinking 11:00 at Joy Luck Palace.
I'm assuming Amy Tan runs the place.
I'm a lurker but even so will eat dim sum.
I like the gender ratio of this meet-up.
The odds are good but the goods are odd.
I'm out of town and really don't all good relationships require a bit of mystery anyway, but someone just please like, HOUSE a bunch of chicken feet for me.
Looking forward to seeing people tomorrow.
They don't take reservations on the weekend, but said that 11:00 should be before the rush. I'll try to show up a few minutes early.
I'll be wearing a red short-sleeved travel shirt.
I am here, waiting outside. LB is running late.
Moving inside the doors where there's some AC. Should have a table in a bit. Haven't seen tia/dagger aleph yet (and heard that one of them can't make it)
Very boring live blogging. . .
Got a table by the TV on the North wall. Holding one extra seat.
I hope for Nick's sake LB shows, else this will be one embarrassing liveblog.
I was grotesquely late, but Nick and his partner were very forgiving. Dagger Aleph couldn't make it, but Tia came.
It was fun -- how could dim sum and complaining about our various jobs not be?
