But James Comey said she was careless with classified information, and James Comey is an honorable man.

Crap, that's a long article. Is there a summary?
Security theater is a stupid idea, especially when the actors don't understand it's theater.
One of the ironies of this article is that every time someone tells me they work for State, I typically assume they actually work for the Agency. Seems like this woman would have been better off had that been the case.
Somewhat on topic: it's always struck me as completely unfair that people's careers can be destroyed and finances ruined by federal investigations that turn out to be unsubstantiated, and that the targets typically don't even get an official apology or recognition of innocence such that they can rebuild their lives. I wonder, are there insurance policies that cover this sort of thing?
5. Checkov's gun gets really tough to deal with in these security types
They've usually fired it well before the third act.
Near the end the article touches on one of the more annoying things about the EMAILS! fucktardary. From the "classified" emails that have came out or been described it seems that many if not most were regarding the fucking drone program. And many were people sending HRC newspaper reports of drone strikes that were techncially classified but which had been leaked to papers like the NYT* (perhaps "officially leaked"). And fucker like the Times absolutely knew this. Fuck everybody and everything.
*For instance from that article: To keep the story out of the media, Raphel's bosses hadn't told her co-workers why she wouldn't be coming back to work. Yet on Nov. 21, a story about the espionage investigation appeared on the front page of the New York Times.

Good news from the Austrian presidential election, at least. Whew.

Yup. Still waiting with baited breath on the Italian referendum, though.
When your country is embarrassing itself less on the Nazi front than Austria, then you know you've fucked up.
It's almost like the countries with the most direct experience with fascism- Austria, Germany, Spain- know better than to voluntarily give those assholes power.
Interesting polling just before the election, by demographic. VdB won every group except manual laborers (not entirely precise translation of Arbeiter), which he lost 85-15. Also, he won the self-employed only narrowly. Large preference for VdB by women, and educated.
Less, more, up, down, right, wrong. It's all the same now.
SP knows how to decode my messages, lk. What's your excuse?
16: I mean, they've come damn close, though. I'm not sure I'd attribute too much sense to them.
Ceterum censeo the electoral college delendum esse.
The Italian referendum just failed. The Prime Minister has said he would step down if it did. I'm not clear how its likely to unfold after that, but I understand there is a strong chance he will be replaced by right wing, anti-EU party.
Combine that with Brexit, a probable right-wing government in France, continued meddling from Putin, and Trump putting America's commitment to NATO into question. I'd say things aren't looking good for the cause of European unity these days.
||So some shithead from North Carolina brings an assault rifle to the DC pizza place that apparently a ton of fake-news-reading morons believe is the headquarters of a child sex ring run by Hillary Clinton and John Podesta, and the chief of police says "we do not believe that it was terrorist related."|>
That whole pizzagate thing came out of the more fever-swampish portions of reddit. And yet somehow that story is not on the reddit front page. Hmmm.
Maybe we could upvote a video of the Bart "I didn't do it" video instead.
When I was in Austria and the FPO were in the government, Alex van der Bellen was an enduringly decent and reasonable man who had to endure an amazing amount of bullshit and calumny. I don't think anyone imagined he'd end up as president, but he richly deserves it.
I doubt he ever imagined he'd be running for president with "Heimat" written across his election posters though.
