IHMB (possibly here, definitely somewhere) that we need to be on the lookout for electronic health record standards abruptly changing in a way that only a Thiel company can provide.
Imagine a boot fucking Hulk Hogan forever.
You have to imagine it because my lawyers say I shouldn't link to the video.
Goddamn do I feel sorry for the satirists.
Our national defense has been compromised ever since Obama appointed looks-like-a-nerd Ashton Carter.
I honestly thought he was talking about Hogan winning a wrestling match and arguing it wasn't choreographed.
Also I've been half considering whether I could dress up as a nerdy stereotypical scientist, tweet it at Trump, and somehow get an appointment to one of his scientific positions.
Our national defense has been compromised ever since Obama appointed looks-like-a-nerd Ashton Carter.
Maybe he looks like a nerd now, but the guy was hilarious on That 70's Show.
1: Judith Faulkner is gearing up to make Epic the de facto standard already.
8: I know - it's precisely because those companies are already seeing the cash pour in oligopolistically and mostly due to government standards, which are unfortunately necessary in some form, that I fear someone in the new administration trying to redirect the spigot, and Thiel is the kind of person with the resources to do that.
(I'm starting to think, incidentally, we should nationalize Epic, Cerner, etc.. They're powerful and unresponsive enough they might as well be public utilities already.)
They should do everything in SAS, like normal people.
10. The British SpecOps force or the Swedish airline?
If you have to ask you aren't good enough.
9: They should have had open standards so that EHRs could easily share data. Epic actually sucks for clinical users. It's mainly good for billing.
13: if only it were that simple. Such open standards are inevitably designed by committee , and result in enough wiggle room that interoperability is a problem (cf DICOM).
The only reason EPIC is an 800lb gorilla in this space is that is is good for billing, which is the life's blood of a hospital - but at some point you are better of figuring out how to interoperability with the systems you have, rather than replac them. Momentum is a huge issue.
It might also turn out to have a whole lot of positive externalities if we could literally get everyone on the same decent system.
Somebody needs to redo "Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers" with Republican member of Congress as in the roll of San Francisco bureaucrats.
Tom Wolfe is still alive and wearing white suits and spats, I believe.
Could you check? I think he lives in your area.
I'm not willing to invest two subway tokens and round-trip fare for the LIRR regardless.
It's been years since I last ran into him.
Is Thiel going to run for California Governor?
Spend a billion dollars and lose by 30 points, Peter! Creatively disrupt electoral politics!
True story: My cousin went to priest school with your current governor. It didn't take for either of them.
I hear God is a real hardass.
I don't know. It took him decades to get around to flooding California.
I hear God is a real hardass.
That whole "I won't save you if you elect a giant asshole" policy really smarts.
Thiel running a gubernatorial attempt up the flagpole is the latest best sign of his underlying cretinhood.
I'm sure every idiot out there is thinking, "What has The Donald got that I haven't got?"
Behind every great man is a woman with a full bladder.
I'm back from camping. Posting will resume.
Promote my link from Apo's thread? It's a good piece.
