Yeah, that post is pretty rokken. A few months ago, the NYer had an interesting (if depressing) article on gerrymandered congressional districts that had some nice coverage of a devil's bargain between black democrats and white republicans: the black democrates got districts where they had a comfortable majority (instead of being kept a sizable minority, which resulted in white democratic representation), and the white republicans got fewer democratic districts overall. Interesting that the White South discussion is about only the presidential and senate races.
