That's like 5 minutes. Who has that kind of time?
I'm offended. Oklahoma isn't nearly as white as she suggests. Many Native people, including Elizabeth Warren, are from there.
Hijabs can be fashionable... Israeli colonialism... Iranian nuclear weapons... Native American genocide...
Well, that escalated quickly.
More seriously, it's awesome that she stands her ground and makes her points forthrightly, but it's kind of a shame she hits so many hot buttons so quickly--one or two sentences then on to the next thing--she's not going to convince anybody to the right of Noam Chomsky of anything. I'm sure I don't know why the interviewer felt the need to bring up Iranian nukes.
It's racist, sexist, insane, pathetic, and succinctly demonstrates that I have wasted my life, but I swear I got half way through watching this and into my brain comes the thought "what if she meets and dates that guy Merhad (sp?) from the old Apostropher Freddy Mercury thread? What if they have kids?"
YouTube's automated playlist algorithm just gave me a guy doing his best Freddie Mercury imitation (on "Somebody To Love"), which is clear foreshadowing that 4 will happen.
She's wonderful. The kids are so fearless these days. (Or maybe that took courage and work for her, but she definitely did it right.)
6: Yeah, I rarely watch video, but she was bright and engaging. It felt like she trusted viewers with a deeper and more nuanced view of the world than the anchors could imagine. By the end, it felt like the anchors were condescending about what their viewers could handle, which she trusted people with more challenging truths.
That was amazing to watch! She was so calm about pointing out the ridiculousness of the interviewers' tropes. All I would have managed is to sputter and call them racists.
