In related news, apparently Trump's all for gun control now. (Including taking people's guns without due process!)
"Two or three years ago it was just another snake cult, now... they're everywhere."
1: Give him a couple of days. He'll have an entirely new position.
Jared lost his security clearance. I'm pretty sure that means Trump will be more hostile and unstable than usual for the next few days.
Maybe next we arm the teachers and deputize them to take the guns from the crazies.
There was a teacher who fired a shot (not at anybody) in a school in Georgia. Not many details, except that the teacher was arrested. If I knew this was thread was coming, I would have put the link here instead of the other thread. If I weren't lazy, I'd put it here now.
2 is good, but no one has posted the Zardoz quote? This is not the blog it used to be.
Also, Hope Hicks (no relation) is resigning.
How is Wry Cooter's security clearance process going, then?

I thought his application for a clearance got knocked back to Secret instead of Top Secret/SCI. He had an interim clearance at the highest level, now he has an interim at the Secret level. At least that's what I read this morning. It could be a major handicap for someone in his role, of course.
* An interim only lasts until the investigation of your background is complete, and people with an interim don't have the same level of access as people with a full clearance.
I read that any asshole can get "Secret".

This is deeply concerning. Without access to the best information, he may now start giving the president ill-considered advice!
When it was just Dick's saying they'd stop selling guns to people under 21, I didn't think much of it. But now it's Dick's and Walmart. You can boycott Dick's. I don't think you (where you is somebody who really loves guns) can boycott Walmart.
15 You still have to decide whether and what to disclose about Mossy Character and ajay.
...
Will it make it easier on you, now
You've got something to aim?
You say gun love, gun life
When it's gun need in the night
Gun love, we get to share it
...
These folks should be committed, amirite Armalite!
Stopping selling to people under 21 is sort of weaksauce. Just because the latest shooter was 19? Dick's actually got rid of semiautomatics, which seems more material to me. Walmart's change is more cosmetic, at least from what I've read so far.
I read that any asshole can get "Secret".
Strong enough for an asshole, but made for your armpits.
You can boycott Dick's.
I was about to make a rather predictable Lysistrata reference, and earn the scorn of nosflow as a mere dilettante, but was sidetracked by the discovery that the play, according to Wikipedia, includes mention of a sexual position called "The Lioness On The Cheese Grater".
Enter URPLIOS, habited strangely.
CHORUS: Look, folk of Athens! Hear his words!
PNEUMALACERTA, an argumentative woman: Surely we must pay attention to Urplios. We know well how strange is the food that he eats.
AIAS, a foreigner: Indeed, what comes out of his mouth will be no less strange than what goes into it.
CHORUS: We support you in email!
URPLIOS: I have invented what I believe to be an entirely classical sexual practice!
NOSPHLOS, a philosopher: That is a deliberate anachronism!
(He is struck down with an atlatl. The CHORUS utter strange cries and begin to dance.)

More proof there were lions in London in ancient times!
Yesterday was fun on Twitter because you saw all the people making fun of the gun church who had clearly clicked on the link expecting to see Reverend Jim's Megachurch in suburban Tennessee, but then saw it was a weird Korean cult that occasionally gathers in their temple in the forest, and then sort of made the same joke anyway but their heart wasn't in it.
22: Walmart's sauce has other things in it, like they don't sell handgun (except in Alaska, because bears) and I think several years ago it stopped selling most (all?) of the types of guns Dick's is just now dropping. Both of them are a long way from banning semi-automatics.
Oh right, Dick's just got rid of assault rifles, so-named.
Yes. And Walmart did a few years ago. But, I'm not sure they are defining "assault" the same way.
Oh Christ I finally got 27 and it's even better than 25.
Well, more αναχρονιστικ at any rate
κοάξ
I've never been able to understand what the cable plugged into the back of the TV set has to do with frogs.
That was good. Thank you, google translate and vague memory of the classics.
It's literally the only line of classical Greek drama I actually know (well, minus the ranoplan). In fact, the only line of classical Greek I know about from ἐπὶ οἴνοπα πόντον, and I only know that because of Joyce.
I'm proud I can say I can read 27 in the original Greek and while it is very good it is not as great as 25.
37: if you unplug it, all the frogs get out.
Who let the frogs out? Βρεκεκεκεξ, κραξ, κοάξ!
Who let the frogs out? Βρεκεκεκεξ, κραξ, κοάξ!
39: I know a couple of others because I had to stare at them every morning in assembly and learned to translate them just out of sheer frustration.
39/46 AIMHMHB, when I was working in Blackwell's Classics department I used to wear a badge saying, "θεοὺς μὲν αἰτῶ τῶνδ᾽ ἀπαλλαγὴν πόνων" (Aeschylus, Agamemnon, line 1). The bosses hadn't a clue but the customers loved it.
