I think I see the difference, but then I'm highly suggestible.
If you come to Pittsburgh, we want autoloading sound added.
Finally readable on my iPhone which was my main complaint about switching from Android. Many thanks to the both of you!
Ogged, aren't you (1) a front-end developer, with (2) admins rights to Unfogged? Can't you just change the font yourself?
Also, no, the font is fine in landscape (on an iPhone SE).
I'm curious about the technical difference - what I see is that Chrome isn't nagging me to make it "mobilefriendly", but I can't tell what happened visually.
(And of course it now complains about using http instead of https. Can the site fire up LetsEncrypt?)
Bring back the Unfogged comment bot.
11 Prompted by complaint of mine. Thanks again!
Ben should go to Vienna more often.
Neb. I don't know that other person.
This is terrible. We should shut down the blog.
Wow haven't seen a ^H joke in like a decade.
neb hope you are having a lovely time in Vienna, and hi x trapnel from all of us, we hope you are keeping very well! we all still want to move into the hotel we stayed at in vienna. all i need is a modest fortune and a weenie dog, would move in there in a heartbeat. if the volksoper is playing anything of interest i highly recommend it, excellent scene. enjoy enjoy enjoy!
I like the difference! It make portrait mode legible.
What part of CHANGEBAD didn't you understand?
The fact that everything isn't exactly the same proves that trapnel is secretly trying to destroy the blog.
Who is going to fix the oversized landscape mode before I sell the domain to spammers?
Have you tried turning your phone off, rotating it 90 degrees, and turning it back on.
24 is just wrong. I opened this for the first time on a computer and it looks really weird. It's not less functional. I just looks really weird.
The comment box is wider on desktop but it's finally readable on the iPhone.
Yes. But it looks weird on the desktop.
I don't see any difference on a chrome browser.
I feel like this change is exposing how browsers aren't as standard as we're sometimes led to believe.* It's definitely better on the iPhone in portrait now, but something seems off on Firefox on a ten-inch Android tablet compared to before. Also, my nearsightedness means I like larger fonts. Landscape on an iPhone was still barely readable for me before, now it's much better, albeit at the cost of more scrolling.
I haven't really noticed a difference on desktop/laptop browsers.
*From the non-front-end web dev side; I assume many web developers are already familiar with the variations.
On Opera Mini on Android it seems identical. On Firefox on Windows the comment box is wider but it seems otherwise identical (but I was always reading at 133% magnification, if that matters).
On my phone, I got annoyed with Chrome, Mini, and Firefox, so I switched to the Samsung browser that I got used to back when I had a Samsung phone. Works very well.
This impetuous lone-wolf behavior by Neb is definitely going on his permanent record. There was a reason I always ignored Trapnel's request for this! What is change? Change is bad.
I am in support of the changes. It doesn't change anything on my desktop other than a screen-scaled (wide) comment box.
On a PC, press Win+left arrow to make the window, and therefore the comment box, narrower.
This is a good change. A great change even. The main drawback of going to the iPhone was that I couldn't really read Unfogged on it and now I can. Celebrate change!
1- Before, the comment box was a fixed number of columns -- a number that was slightly wider than an iPhone's screen in portrait mode, leading to horizontal scroll bars. Now, it's a percentage. If it's now too big on desktop browsers, someone could add a max-width property to limit how big it can get.
2- Ogged, what are you using such that the font is too big in landscape mode? It looks fine on my iPhone SE. Still small in portrait mode, but at least usable.
2b- Why would anyone read a blog in landscape mode? Stop that!
2c- Why not make some actual responsive CSS media queries, Mr. Full Stack Web Developer?
I think you are all gaslighting me. Nothing has changed at all.
37.1 last would be nice. Same width as before.
At the moment when I switch my phone to landscape after opening this thread, Stormcrow's 27 gets featured instead of the bottom of the thread, and I want this thread to stay that way forever but it won't because I'm adding comments.
I meant 29. I've now destroyed this thread.
