Did he get that coat at Burlington Coat Factory?
I'm sadly tired of the meme already, but I do want a wolverine now.

Kamala Harris's Lisa Simpson outfit has to be deliberate, right?
Twitter is getting really annoying by making you take an extra step to view a tweet in your web browser on iOS. They really want you to use the app.
I should give up Twitter for Lent. It's not helping my mental state even with Trump gone.
14: I don't think that's definite. At the time, the Simpsons seems to have been going for a very standard "political women's attire", and that's what Harris was wearing.
It really is delightful to read these two articles about the Vermont woman who made the mittens for Bernie. Hard to imagine a more down-to-earth person.
I know I've mentioned former Rep. Bessette (D-Great Falls) before: she's a champion barrel racer and, unfortunately, too many people in her district went for the red asshole.

This and the immediate response to it summarize the situation well.
I like the Bernie thing, but some people in my timeline, its like the first time they ever discovered memes.
My sister, for example, needs to calm TF down with putting him in every family photograph.
I also feel like this thing outlived its expiration date among my local group of friends, midway through the day yesterday, and felt complicit for posting this.
I guess people are joyous. We should let them have their fun.
I don't want to see anyone photoshopping Bernie into Hank Aaron memes. Just don't.
36: It's weird isn't it? At least to me, it feels like some kind of communal expression of relief. There aren't too many politicians -- and there aren't any Republicans -- where repurposing a sorta silly picture this way would be an expression of affection.
The Republicans have really come to terms with the fact that anything creative is going to turn against them unless they destroy it first.
No one is taking up the hot twitter take that this proves Bernie's a misogynist because he doesn't do emotional labor?
Emotional labor is $15 an hour, minimum.
I'm also waiting for "the effusiveness about Amanda Gorman is actually racist". I bet I could find it if I looked, but that's cheating.
I'll effusively praise pretty much any bit of normal civic/societal rebuilding stuff at this time. I'm not going to watch it, but I feel much better that it is there.
41: So I looked and found that and that's about 6 minutes of my life that I will never get back.
43: I couldn't find that, thank god.
Ok this is kind of perfect https://twitter.com/TheDaveThomas/status/1352655316660350977
I don't understand the impulse to seek out takes that actively irritate you. I mean, I do it, several times a day. But I don't understand it.

47: because the reaction of righteous superiority, or the process of articulating that reaction, is satisfying and pleasant? Is it all that different from enjoying scoffing at idiots?
43: I bet there's been a lot of this image in response, at least. I saw a succinct formula on Twitter (from an unsympathetic commentator) that went something like: people don't want Stacey Abrams to get the RBG treatment because it's seen as basic. Now, is it actually racist to be basic? No really, this is a very serious and important question and we need to discuss it seriously, where are you all going...?
43 I could provide a link, but won't.
My feed has enough about This Land and its Indigenous Erasure to satisfy anyone. The criticism is true. It's a great song. Having a Latina sing it was designed to troll Nativists, not Natives. And yet, we're going to have to drop this one from the canon as we go forward, and correctly so.
46: I really enjoyed this one, you hoser! (Also the Sistine Chapel one.) Keep it up.
Speaking of the McKenzie Brothers, heard a very good episode of the Gilbert Gottfried podcast with Dave Thomas. Am interesting guy. (And if you can get past the laugh and other obnoxiousnesses the podcast in general is quite good if you enjoy older movies and showbiz history. His co-host is good and leavens the Gilbertness to a manageable level.)
I am so looking forward to never having any more of this garbage in my brain. The impulse to keep checking news sources for new outrages and catastrophes has definitely abated in the past few days. Part of the stress of the Trump era was that it was never clear just how bad things were going to get, and a lot of the worst stuff went underreported, so you had to dig for it. With a Democratic administration, the familiar tolerance levels for badness seem pretty stable, even now. I'm sure I'll keep digging for bad news, and finding it, but it shouldn't be quite as relentless. (And, I guess, it's more digging under superficial layers of positivity for the bad news, than digging under radioactive layers of shit for more shit.)
I've seen criticism of the Bernie meme as erasure of Black women, who, having saved the Republic in all the ways, should be the featured images from this thing.
I think the Bernie meme is just some silly fun, but then I would think that.
They can take This Land is Your Land from my cold, dead hands.
The Wiggles wrote some great songs.
Genuine question: how much difference is there, after wondering if there's a particular bad take out there, between:
(a) searching for someone who has that bad take, pointing them out, and feeling superior; versus
(b) speculating that there's probably someone who has that take, and feeling superior.
I think for it to rise above that level it needs to be the case that (a) is not only bad but common enough to make a difference in some way.
55.1 thanks

Did everyone see these:
https://www.theminnesotapins.com/product/inauguration-bernie
62 I think Bernie has similar merch on his website and all proceeds go to Meals on Wheels.
41: I love the memes, but will admit to a thought of "it's the inauguration, have the sense to dress up." Not dressing up isn't a mark of being down with the people, because the people sure as hell would dress up if asked to be at the inauguration.
Bernie would have dressed the same if it were his inauguration
64: That is dressed up for Vermont.
The Secret Service would have added Kevlar to it.
From Rebecca Helm: the approximate size of various ocean animals with a Bernie for scale. A Thread.

My estimate of the largest vent tubeworms was *way* off. I thought they'd be half a Bernie at most.
There'll be no frustration, just very large crustaceans.
Under the sea.
A friend of mine had a mildly critical take of Bernie on Twitter and it got her sucked into a pit of hellfire. She had to delete her account and has-been getting rape threats. The sd thing is she *likes* Bernie and voted for him. Its made the meme much less fun.
I just saw a meme which was a picture of waves on a beach, with the caption, "The pictures that you see *without* Bernie Sanders? That's when he was carrying you."
Some people are too lazy to photoshop.
71. That is appalling. What sort of psychopath thinks that kind of stuff helps anybody or anything.
I've never met Sen. Sanders, but I used to be a friend of his brother, and I would be astonished if the senator reacted badly to constructive criticism, even if he disagreed with it.
71. Is appalling.
Some people (artist Stuart Elliot) are putting the time in / procrastinating around the basic activities and gestures of painting; coherence and repetition, and how these relate to broader questions of agency and interpretation.
