Re: Guest Post - Amazon Union Drive

i daydream a few heroic union drives succeeding at Amazon - they will have to be heroic - and then Amazon reverses its approach and start politically agitating for very high, measurable labor standards, because Amazon will be better suited to doing that than less instrumented rivals, and can keep a margin and continue dominate the economy.

somewhere in here amazon gets nationalized, or possibly the reverse.

That's fairly close to my daydream.

Even I'm not cynical enough to think the US would be better run if it were acquired by Amazon.

Amazon seems better-run than the US government to me in terms of like overall effectiveness. (Obv they should do less bad labor practice.)

It's been funny watching Amazon become the world's biggest minimum wage cheerleader.

If it weren't for Trump so strongly attacking them, i probably wouldn't have gotten Prime until after covid started. But I would have caved when covid hit regardless (though we did more with Boxed and Target for food).

I still have yet to order from Uber Eats even though they had spent the past year offering me both $30 and £15 off my first order.
