Thank you so much for sharing this. It cheered me up to read, except the part where she got screwed out of two gigs for the crime of wanting to accept a higher salary, which she mentions with equanimity because it's all water under the bridge. But I felt a flash of anger reading it. (Similarly when a friend mentioned shenanigans in high school from his racist guidance counselor: it was 25 years in the past or more, and he just smiled at the thought of how little power she had ever had over him, but my reaction was still "I want to go hit her in the face!")
"Slippery People" is so goddamn great.
That was a really interesting look at a career and industry -- the interviewer asked good specific questions, and her answers were so charming.
I've always been fascinated by John Amato who went from pop instrumentalist to OG blogger.

that article is a pure delight - and the dinah washington clip, woweeee!
This interview is one of the best things I've read in a while--thank you for sharing it!
It also felt very timely for me. I always play music in the lead-up to my classes--even easier now with online teaching--and just yesterday I played "Once In A Lifetime." That particular class has one returning adult student who is finishing her undergraduate degree, and I really enjoy playing things that she and I may be the only ones to recognize (though I believe she is probably twenty years older than I am).
Fantastic interview! Thanks. I hadnever heard of her before and I clearly should have,

I'm not familiar with this abbreviation in the OP, is it short for Mineſhaft?
metafilter, probably not that commonly known.
I'm glad people liked the interview, and glad that she's getting work from the music business in our time of streaming.
Music is so fundamental, and Covid has been so hard for performing musicians.
