I hadn't been paying much attention to this discussion of the next book so far. It's juvenile of me, but I just Googled Eve's Hollywood out of curiosity, and the famous picture of her playing chess makes me more likely to participate.

Oh hey! Eve's Hollywood is available on kindle! I hadn't expected that.
It's not on the library app, though a couple of her books are.
Along with "Eve's Hollywood" by Eve Babitz, there is a book about her called "Hollywood's Eve" and another book about her called "Eve in Hollywood".
This NYT article refers to her as a "voluptuous voluptuary". My kind of dame!

That seems almost like a backhanded compliment.
The essay begins with a few remarks about a Bollywood film I hadn't seen, Hum Aapke Hain Koun . Extravagant fantastic dance numbers, slightly stilted conematic attitudes towards relationships, 100% recommended.
I haven't watched the newer streaming series yet-- there's been so much good stuff released, I basically struggle just to keep track of everything that seems to be worth watching, basically no hope of seeing it all.
To HG's remark about censorship in China: New data protection rules in China are worth reading about. Protection against predatory algorithms first for the CCP but also for individuals and small companies.
