I agree! Love Dean Smith. But what's in the clip is great coaching.
I didn't see the clip yet, but there's no getting around that Duke paid me better than any other university by a lot.
Weirdly 1 is also how Jim Jones got his start.
Growing up rooting for the Terps, I won't object if you want to compare Chapel Hill to Jonestown, sure.
counterpoint: why even have those giant captions over the whole thing if they're going to be riddled with errors
I assume they're auto-generated and better than nothing if you have to watch without sound?
Kevin Kruse weighs in:

No better way for Coach K to close out his career than spontaneously combusting on his home court. Let's go.
The hate is so deep. https://twitter.com/jaycaspiankang/status/1500260338293358592?s=21
Good thing there's nothing in the news right now that would make that look like childish hyperbole.
You just don't hate Duke enough to understand.
At least order has been restored somewhere in the universe.
Though going forward, the greatest rivalry in college basketball will be between teams coached by a guy who played at UNC when I was an undergrad and a guy who was born when I was an undergrad and that is seriously fucked up.
They fuck you up, your college contemporaries and the babies they had.

Indeed, that was weird.
I find it hard to imagine that there's any decent coach that doesn't give a speech like that one. (Of course I say this as a lifelong Terps fan, so I may be a bit biased.)
Not sure I buy that. "Be as tough as your mothers" is so inspired. And that's leaving aside the whole "I coached Kobe" setup.
I saw Mike Dunleavy in church once, but I didn't learn anything about basketball.
I did a tracer: 2008 team USA stats, Kobe Bryant: 17 for 53 on three point attempts, 32%. 53 attempts was the highest total on the team (Carmelo, 14/37, 38%, LeBron, 13/28, 46%, Deron Williams 9/24, 38%). It is not recorded how many were stand still 3s. So (not surprisingly) the story is based in facts/his memory is accurate.
