The "comes from kin" factor is really strong here isn't it. This is such an overwhelmingly American reactionary project - anonymous Southern regional-rich guy! extremely conventional Ancient Wisdom carved into something classical-looking! aspiring to classicism but failing to spell "pseudonym"! - and they've literally blown it up. What next, abortions for guns?
The 16-foot-high (5-meter-high) panels bore a 10-part message in eight different languages with guidance for living in an "age of reason." One part called for keeping world population at 500 million or below, while another calls to "guide reproduction wisely -- improving fitness and diversity."
Eight different languages! That's unamerican!
Something for everyone, pretty much.
1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
10. Be not a cancer on the Earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

It's kind of a wonder no one blew it up sooner, but I guess they had tried.
In my experience, the least genetically fit and the useless/petty are often really good at explosions.
Turns out I was relatively near there on a trip this past winter. If I had known about it I would have been tempted to stop by. But wouldn't have in the end.
Pastoral eugenic socialism! Very of the 70's. And the people who never left it.
Both building and destruction are simple-minded demonstrations of power by people who are clearly frustrated and have a weird limited perspective. so cosign 1 I guess.
Growing up, it was possible to see whether control of a neighborhood was contested because gangs would not just spray their symbols, but also their opponent's symbols upside down. Seeing your (maybe idiotic and harmful) neighbors as enemies, less of that would be nice. Maybe some moral teachings encouraging compassion, love thy neighbor kind of thing.
Or, to Terra Ignota readers only: MASON walking among us?
Real wisdom is tagging your opponents' signs with Calvin pissing on them.
11: Still only halfway through the set.
