I can see glass. It doesn't hurt me.
Merry Christmas to you too!
[ok cooked christmas for seven, wouldn't mind vanishing down the street to the pub but it's Christmas night]
I've been at the airport for 5 hours now, waiting for enough crew to show up for my flight home...
Merry Christmas, all. I'm in Flagstaff, where we had a nice chill Christmas with my dad's family.
Alta turned herself in to the police today. We're not sure exactly where she is or what's going to happen, but she's definitely safer not being a runaway and it's a relief to at least have some closure.
12: Really glad to hear that, Teo.
Yes, that's great.
We're back in Phoenix, so Teo if we've ever wanted to make Arizona in-jokes together, now's our chance. Except they must be superficial enough for me to catch, having never been here before November.
How 'bout them giant cacti?
Amadea and the twins are actually both in Phoenix but separately. It's complicated. Travel logistics have been crazy with this weather.
I remember my first trip to Arizona as an adult when I learned that cacti had bones.
16: And now I'm having mine! Interesting.
They really make this area just hugely more interesting than west Texas, imo. Also I find it wild how intrinsically anthropomorphilizable they are.
More like Arid-zona, amirite?
Good one!!
My turn, hmmm. Arizon-uhhhhh.
Too bad there's no enchantment in Arizona.
Whenever I find myself crossing the border into Arizona I ask myself "Am I still enchanted?" and the answer is no.
I just read through a year's worth of coverage of Arizona water issues, so if anyone else wants to be more depressed: https://www.azcentral.com/in-depth/news/local/arizona-environment/2019/12/05/biggest-water-users-arizona-farms-keep-drilling-deeper/3937582002/
(The stories are all from 2019, so if anyone wants to tell me that the situation has gotten better, I'm all ears!)
Of course it hasn't gotten better: https://www.latimes.com/environment/story/2022-12-26/in-arizona-colorado-river-cuts-raise-worries-about-growth
I'm back in New Mexico now, so others will have to take over Arizona in-joking with heebie.
I think Alfred Molina just lied to me about the plot of Frankenstein.
25: As an apology for leaving the state, you must now watch the Holiday special in the OP.
Or someone needs to. I don't need everyone to. Just one other person who will then show up and validate how great it is.
I can't watch now. I'm watching Alfred Molina play a Canadian.
English by birth, Spanish and Italian parents, American citizen. But he can play a Canadian as naturally as he can get spiked in the head after betraying Harrison Ford.
I'm still learning how to tell when birds are omens or just birds.
The Canadian suspects (victims?) have nicer appliances than I do.
33: The trick is to wait and see what happens next.
Honestly, if you're going to go dig up hidden graves by yourself in the dark, I guess you should expect that.
The bear saves the day? Fucking what?
Why would you get out of the car to get away from a bear? The car works. Let them reverse away from the bear while staying in the car.
The birds are omens but the bear is a metaphor.
Kind of like the heffalumps and woozles.
Technically, having a bear show up to resolve a plot hole is Shakespearean. I guess.
