Maybe the have him confused with Bill Pullman and think "While You Were Sleeping" is an attack on marriage?
I think the odds of a Republican being held accountable for something increase as the dominance of the Republicans in the state increases. For example, in Nebraska the Republicans control the state very securely and in the Republican primary the initially favored guy lost because lots of (Republican) women complained that he groped them.
Paxton was, at least nominally, impeached because he sought $3.3 million from the legislature to pay off whistleblowers who had alleged crimes. The legislature decided to investigate instead.
It's interesting to me that the Tribune characterizes the battle as being among conservatives with different policy priorities. It would be biased, I suppose, to say the dispute is between people who have different views, pro and con, on Republicans who commit crimes.
In his own caucus, the vote was 60-23 against him (and of course the Dems were unanimous, 61-0). Can we consider the possibility that some significant number of Republicans are genuinely appalled by Paxton's behavior?
No, I guess not.
Cosign 2. It's harder to pull the "you have to back me to own the libs" move when there's no libs around to own.
I don't know about appalled, but certainly some significant number are aware that things will go better for the party if there is a functioning attorney general's office.
2 is what I was thinking but it ignores that Paxton won the primary handily with a lot of the dirt already out in the open. It's clear there's a large faction of more-traditional Rs who hate Paxton, but it's not clear why they think this is a winning fight.
3.3 ignores the central question here. We've been waiting (and waiting and waiting) for Rs' sense of decency to kick in one appalling scandal after another. Why is this the thing that's over the line?
The Texas Tribune doesn't mention the weird thing on May 23rd where Paxton said the House Speaker should resign for being drunk on the floor. True or not, that could have a lot of Republicans thinking Paxton's not to be relied upon when their own thing gets exposed.
If I were in the Texas House and someone said I was drunk, I'd think they were a friend making excuses.

Anyone have a recommended Hesiod Theogony translation?

4- Conservatives are more responsible when they dominate government. Should Democrats withdraw from politics entirely for the good of the country?
8: Right. How often do Trump's defenders say he's just bullshitting?
Plus, being drunk at work is great. I've heard.

I think some tried it for a while but Trump kept saying, "No, I actually meant that." Except maybe the "locker room talk" - not sure Trump went out and actually said exactly the same thing after his supporters defended him by implying he didn't really mean or do what he obviously meant and had done.
Help. My marketing strategy. It is very sick. I honestly can't think of a worse website to target with spam advertising for firearms.
I am actually in the process of looking for a firearm to buy, but (obviously) none of those listed above would be appropriate. If there's a nice Remington or an SMLE, though...
Decent selection of steroids but I suspect you're facing a pretty tough crowd
