I assume schools are all off here, but I didn't check. It's last day applications are accepted at various colleges that are interesting for the teen among us. I think MLK Jr would have wanted me to have to pay as little college tuition as possible.
I guess you covered that with the :(.
5: Our Dallas are friends have pictures of snow drifting down. They had their water heater freeze the last time you had that big winter storm and the grid went down. Fingers crossed that you're warm and snugly this year!
5: I had to call a plumber on Saturday to thaw a pipe. That's the first time I've had to do that, and I felt dumb for not dripping the taps enough. Thankfully the pipe didn't break and the plumber was helpful.
We have a plumber coming this week to fix a leak, but it's not related to the weather.
It's snowing here in DC. As fate would have it, we had a trip 30 miles away planned. Cassandane was glad I was planning to come anyway because she was horrified at the idea of driving in this herself. On the round trip, we had two near-accidents (both of which would have been the other driver's fault, for the record) and saw a car that had had a bad accident (I don't know about injuries, but they crossed the median and hit a wall on the other side). We also had a car behind us pass us when we stopped at a red light. Only one lane in either direction, so they had to pass us and cross the yellow line to run that line. So that's how DC-area drivers handle the snow, if you're curious.
I remember Durham, so I'm going to assume it's about the same. I remember when my flight got canceled I was in a taxi going home through heavy snow, sitting in the front seat because there were four passengers. The driver was going dead slow, but he didn't hit anything. He said that he lived on two places before North Carolina, Atlanta and Nigeria.
It's going to be minus 10 here this week, apparently. All inside taps now dripping correctly, though the standpipe froze this morning (no damage done, fortunately).
