I took one international law class during my MSc - taught by a guy who quit the Naval Staff in protest at the Iraq War! - and I remember being absolutely fascinated by the sea law cases and especially The I'm Alone, which I always thought would make a great name for a band.
"I'm Alone" is a paradoxical name for a band, but it's wishful thinking as a name for a smuggler's ship.
I know about the case because there was a song written about it, and I'm sure the memorable name of the ship made that more likely.
The linked article does offer a possible explanation for the name. "Allegedly named by a Boston bootlegger who abandoned his syndicate and struck out on his own"
Limits of orthography conventions, 2020s edition.
There was a classic AP Herbert case arguing that in s similar case the bootleggers would be justified in returning fire and killing the coastguard, because by banning alcohol the Americans had placed themselves beyond the boundaries of civilisation and declared themselves hostes humani generis.
